My Audi A4 Avant
« on: 08-Mar-2008, 03:53:59 »
I finally found a car. I bought it two weeks ago, but with the shit weather, I haven't taken many pics.

Shitty cell phone pics

The weather is suppose to be awesome this weekend, so you'll get better pics (and custom shot) after I wash it.

Anyway, it's a 1998 A4 Avant with the 2.8 V6 tiptronic. I know, should have bought a manual, but whatever, it's my daily driver so I don't really care. 110,000 miles on it and I paid a tick over $7k for it after taxes and junk. Car came from Washington state, which means I have yet to find a speck of rust on it. Just prior to me buying it, the car was inspected by Audi, where the thermostat, water pump and timing belt were changed. It also has brand new tires on it.
The car has everything. Sunroof, heated leather seats, CD changer etc.

The wheels are Enkei something something. They are 18" wheels so they make a bit of noise. That and they weren't cared for too well, which is surprising since the car was so well cared for. The wheels have pit marks all over. Either way, I don't really like them. Sometime this summer they'll be refinished and sold.
The only real problems (if you can call them that) is that the little box the tonneau cover packs into is popping out of the seat a bit, the cup holder is mangled, small rock chip in the windshield and a small paint blemish on the hatch.
The brake pads and rotors need to be changed soon, but I got the guy to knock $500 of the price of the car because of it. I didn't tell him I get a massive discount on parts.

So there ya go, my first Audi

Great choice on the Avant!  :good: She looks like a beauty! Any plans on what replacement rims you're going to get?

I wish you many safe and fun miles with her  :D

Great choice, and the engine is really a good one :)

Not too fond on those wheels, especially with such high ride height ;)

Have fun with it!

Avants are everywhere by me. I'd say I see just as many avants as sedans.

As for what wheels I'll replace these with, I have no idea. not something too fancy or expensive though.

+1

My dad has that same engine (sort of) in a Passat... and it's really smooth. I always told him he should've gone for the Tiptronic 'box since it's his daily drive... he got manual instead. For the price and mileage... sounds like a good deal to me :good:

Good choice! If you are thinking about changing the wheels, take a look at BBS CH. They are perfect for B5 Avants.

you should also check out www.autohausaz.com for parts (pads and rotors) I've bought a lot of parts there, always top notch.

i'm a HUGE fan of the A4 Avants...i think they look great, and are so practical.

i would encourage you to go to www.audiworld.com and post there on the B6 A4 forums, they're great and very helpful in maintaining, modding, and showing off your car ;)

Congrats for the car mate :good: about the wheels, I stumbled over this site:

If the budget allows you, I say go for the sportecs

No kidding? The other day I saw an Allroad on my way to work and that got me counting. I'm still at 1. Vegas is weird. Lots of Mercedes lovers here. I'm one of few reppin' the rings in the desert  :D  Someone opened a new Audi stealership near my house, maybe that will change the demographic a bit around here. (Even though it's our 2nd.)

I've had it for two weeks now. I just haven't posted anything or taken pics because the weather here has been pretty shitty. It was supposed to be nice today, but it wasn't. LOL

Skaala, I'm covered on parts. I work at an Import parts shop and get a massive discount. Brembo rotors and Mintex pads for all four corners will cost me maybe $250. Then I'll put it on the lift to make it easier to change.

I don't know what kind of wheels I'll replace these with, but I'll definitely go through tire rack. I get a big discount through them thanks to work.

As for lowering it, we'll see after I put new wheels on it. It rides pretty well as it is and I'd hate to ruin it. But with a smaller wheel and thicker sidewall tire, it might be okay.

Also, I don't really plan on modding the car much, if at all. It's my daily driver and I'd hate to make it unreliable and such. Plus, it's an automatic.

Thanks for he compliments everyone!

Very nice to see the Audi familiy are growing... :good:

The car looks good, but as you said the rims doesnt quite suit the car, at least not with the ride height it got now...if you are lowering it, try and get a set from Eiback they got comfy sets that doesnt slam it and high quallity stuff...

You only say Audi 2,8 so Im guessing the quattro part of it is given on that one...  :D

Hope you get many great miles in it, and become a follower of this great brand like some of us lost causes are....
