My BMW E30 318i - R.I.P.
« on: 16-Dec-2007, 13:05:05 »
E30 318i with the M40 engine that was also in the E36
producing 113bhp.

So far it has over 211.000k´s on the clock and 11.500 with me inside.
The plan is to drive the car till its dead or when its not passing the next inspection which has to be in spring. It has some rust problems in the front and I am not bother to put money into that car since a 318i is nothing really special in my mind.

I am watching for a good 318is to buy that I want to turn into a stock looking racer that then will be driven only on the weekend.

Custom Shot

When I bought it my friend was so friendly to pay for the first fulltank since I spend all my money I had with me on the car.

Changing to the narrow winter tyres.

grandma loves the leather interior :D

me fixing some stuff

Double plus on the grandma and custom shots; very clever! Drive it till the wheels fall off mate! Part of the beauty of your car is that you have absolutely zero stress over rock chips, dirt, scratches, just screw it all and drive! COOL :afro:

Very nice and clean looking E30 you got there bob the builder, the granma pic is great looks liek she is ready to raise hell....

Those rims look really good on the E30 alot of people put more modern rims on their E30`s and it kinda ruins it for me to put modern looking rims on such a car.....

That's a nice RWD toy. I wouldn't mind having one myself to play around with. The pictures don't show any rust, looks very nice! :)

Cool car Phobo, you should have plenty of fun to drift your BMW on the snow. One thing is sure it has the classic shape of the famous E30 model.  :good:

nice car - What rims?

Manufacturer is called mim - the plan is to change the colour of them in then winter tire but first I have to find a way to heat the garage because in the cold its no pleasure to work there.

So if the next one will be for weekends only, what will your everyday car be?

something with climat control, a good fuel consumption and isn´t so noisy. I have to drive 120kms each day so with the e30 its not so funny. I am looking for a Audi A4 1.9 tdi (the facelift version with the 110ps) B5 generation but maybe also a mach1 seat leon. I am not quite sure depends also alot of the price of course.

Cool car Phobo, you should have plenty of fun to drift your BMW on the snow.

For sure it is a big fun to drift the beemer on the snow but at the same time it is very scary with those tiny and not the best winter tyres and no abs. The old rwd opel that I drove the last 4 winters was way easier to hold in the drift probably because of the longer wheel base.

The pictures don't show any rust, looks very nice! :)

Picture of my main problem area :D - its not that big how it looks because also the wires have to get through
that hole but it also continues in that area to rust :(. The position is so bad that its not easy to weld.
Friend of mine who is mechanic said that it might take ~150working hours to get the whole car again back into
no rusy conditions. Dont want to invest that much time into a standart 318i so as wackary said I will drive it to
death and buy a better newer one with an S on the truck =).
