Cool pictures. Old Aeros were know for being too powerful for the chassis. Do you have torque-steer in this car?

While I will let Alan talk of his own opinion, our Aero only ever suffers from feeling a little vague when flooring it from the stand still.  The car never tugs or pulls left or right so it never bothers me - I rarely have to floor it from 0mph and immediately go around a corner!

Not only that, full throttle standing starts should really be avoided in the Aero - it is a heavy car and the gearbox gets one hell of a beating (our old 95 Aero died of gearbox failure - and I suspect, my right foot from the stand still may have had something to do with it!!!).

where the car really excels - and I mean really - is pulling away from 30mph to well into motorway speeds.  It suffers no torque steer then.

I note that Alan's is a manual - mine is an automatic which may make a difference.  One major difference is, I suspect, the speed the manual can get off the line.  The auto box is fine once moving, but if I am turning right (or left in Europe) and trying to nip across the road before a car gets to me then I have to "accelerate" earlier than feels natural to allow the auto box and turbo to get up to speed - the car then launches!  I am talking a second or two which feels like an eternity when waiting for a car to move lol

Anyway - enough of hijacking Alan's thread!!!

Yeah i heard about old aeros having lots of torque steer but like jon says ive never had any in the time ive been driving this one, apart from when the front tyres were needing replaced it would tend to weave quite a bit under hard acceleration in the wet but new tyres fixed that. Also like jon says the most impressive thing about the car is pulling from 30mph, I used to drive a my mums renault scenic and the aero is so fast in comparison, it makes overtaking and joining motorways from small sliproads much easier.

Nice HDRs Alan! It's particulary useful in the interior pic. Keep shooting, your other pics are nice too :good:

Thanks for these pics - i always loved Saab cars, here in Germany it's driven by architects and scientifics, they will not drive the usual BMW, AUDI or Mercs.
