The Meriveyron hits 100,000
« on: 04-Apr-2008, 16:14:17 »

 :)

After 3 years and a half, that is 30,000km a year - way less that Peter and his 90,000km-a-year Leon FR - yesterday the Meriveyron hit the 100,000km on the clock.

After all this time, only the timing belt had to be replaced when the car let me down 100km from my place, and they had to replace the steering rack as well because of a problem with the ESP sensor, which is right withing the system, so you cannot replace just the sensor :nutz: and then there was that day when a moron hit 4 cars in a row on the street, being the Meriveyron the last one and the one that absorved the biggest impact... having to replace the rear bumper and part of the rear side panel

Anyway there're more good memories than bad in this 3 years since I bought it brand new: Le Mans, the rally Montecarlo, Top Marques (x2), Geneva Show (x2)... 100,000 relatively lucky kms, with minor problems every now and then... but definitely an improvement over my previous ride, the super-unreliable 147 Selespeed

That's impressive amount on kilometer in 3 years. How did you celebrate? ;)

We should be buying a van before summer, to be shared between me and my brother, for the rallyes and races. The Meriva has been doing that job for 3 years now (that's the reason I didn't get a Renault Clio Sport 197 instead  ). We usually come back from the races with 10 tyres, some extra spare parts and tools, and the chairs, the table, the jacks... so well, a bigger van was some sort of... necessary

And well, since we'll be getting a van, the reason why I bought the Meriva (something more roomier than a hot hatch) is no longer valid... so may be I change to something even smaller like a Fiat 500... or the 160hp Abarth 500 Esseesse

I'm gonna wash it :P
