My 2004 Audi S4 (B6)
« on: 16-Apr-2008, 19:27:58 »
A Custom Pic: (Anyone remember my debut on JW? "Need 25 posts...."  You guys didn't think I would stick around did you?)

So, yesterday I woke up at 3AM so I could drive 5 hours to Carlsbad, CA. (Zot09 I threw "the roc" up for you when I passed Irvine on the I-5... you live in a BEAUTIFUL part of the country!!) To pick up this:

My new-to-me 2004 B6 S4 in Imola Yellow. I picked it up with a CPO warranty - and I added the extended coverage to get free oil changes & services until 75k miles. It had 35k on it when I bought it now it has 35.5.

It has the Ebony interior and, of course, it's a 6-speed manual transmission. <- The reason I had to drive to Cali. There were only Tiptronics in Nevada, and .

Here's my favorite part of the car:

 Someone stuck a V8 in my V6-hole!

As Sameer testified when he picked up his 348, the best way to get to know your car is with a spirited road trip! It was only a 300 mile journey from Carlsbad back to Las Vegas, but in those 5 hours I got a great feeling for the car and I'm dodging Nevada retards that cheated to get their license like a pro!

As fate would have it, I'm sick with a head cold now. So I'm a little lazy and I think I'm going to cut 'er off for now. The plan is to take a professional grade camera from work and go do a photo shoot this weekend so stay tuned for more content!

-Adam

Nice! :D So this was the good that came after the bad of a full weekend working, eh? I could live with that 8)

lol @ your custom shot
I really like the car, nice colour (too many fast cars have boring colours, they may look good in it but sometimes it's just great to see a fast car standing out of the crowd :) ), nice engine, nice interior, manual => :good: , and it looks to be in good condition :)
Did you drive on any twisty roads on the way back?
Get well soon by the way ;)

Congrats on the new ride.   You used to have a TT previously correct?

One of my neighbors has a silver S4 V8, similar to yours, for his wife. It sure sounds good burbling around - very un-Audi like sound and all the better for it. Glad you got to drive the car in - the best way to get acquainted with the new gal. I'm sure the torquey engine was a delight on the drive. Did you do any high speed bursts?

What did you pay for it? I bet you saved ~$20K on depreciation already by buying a used car instead of a new one.

BEAUTIFUL FUCKING CAR DUDE! I've always loved the subtle, yet aggressive, looks of the B6 S4  You definitely have to post more pics, stat!

BTW, what's going to happen to your TT? Did you trade it in?

(Zot09 I threw "the roc" up for you when I passed Irvine on the I-5... you live in a BEAUTIFUL part of the country!!)

Hahaha thanks Adam, I appreciate the fact that you risked your life while driving to throw up both hands and flash the diamond  I'll be sure to reciprocate the gesture when I swing by Vegas haha

Great car, especially in that colour! It's just so boring to see all the Audis, porkers and beemers in booring colours  The B6 S4 is definitely one of the cars I would also consider... if I lived in the US (the prices of the petrol make this car a little prohibitibe around here :P) you can find real bargains here, both B5 and B6 S4... guess people wants the top-of-the-range RS4 or they just settle for a diesel "regular" A4

Congrats, I wish you lots of safe and reliable miles with your new car! and great idea to drive those 300mi back to Vegas BTW :good:

You lucky bastard! Congrats on the purchase man, the B6 S4 looks more special compared to the normal a4 than the B7 S4, so  :good: for choosing the right one, hope you drive her for many miles without troubles. The only thing I don't like is the wood trim on the inside, the aluminum one looks and fits the car much better IMO.

Awesome, Congrats!

I'm kind of wishing I had gone for a B5 S4 instead of an A4, but oh well, it's my first Audi.

Thanks for all the warm congrats and compliments guys! Let me answer some of the ?'s

gucom: I've yet to hit some "real" twists. (I gotta remember you're from Europe! haha) I am going on another road trip in about a month to visit a friend in Bay Area California, and I plan on driving the famous highway 1 by the pacific ocean. The Pacific Coast Highway!

sameerrao and zot09:Yeah I had a 2001 TT quattro coupe before, but I sold it about a month ago to a friend who knew how many problems I had with it - he still wanted it and wrote me a check for it. So I drove a rented nissan sentra to Carlsbad. Imagine the stark difference on the ride home? I gave it a few big bursts up to 90 or so, but I noticed the yellow really attracts the attention of law enforcement so I kept things reasonable for now until she sees her first track day!

Thanks again guys - I may be back to answer ?'s but don't expect more quality pics until the weekend.

If you drive by Monterey and want to hit up some GREAT driving roads(Car and Driver uses this route fairly often, I believe), BE SURE to take Carmel Valley Road and make a left onto Laureles Grade(where the fun starts), make a right on Robley Road and follow it and it will eventually become Corral de Tierra Road. Keep going and make a left onto San Benancio Road.(fun ends pretty much here) which will take you to hwy 68 which you can take back to Monterey, to Laguna Seca, or to highway 1.  :good:

Edit: Oh yeah, the road itself...it is comprised of A LOT of tight left and right handers with a few high speed sweepers early on. It has pretty much every kind of turn you can think of, from increasing/decreasing radii turns to complete 180's while you ascend/descend a small mountain. The whole thing is probably around 10 miles long(I've never actually looked at how long it is), and it is all back-roads that are very lightly traveled. I've also yet to see a cop on it, so that's good news *knocks on wood* Just be careful, some of the turns are blind, so be sure to take those slow.

I copied and pasted that route into a word document, zot, thanks for the advice.  After seeing your neck of the woods I knew I would be coming back. Next time hopefully we can meet up for a beer or something. My trip to Carlsbad was kind of a spur-of-the-moment thing and I had to get there and back in 1 day. Otherwise I would have let you know. If you end up making a trip over this way before that happens make sure to let me know and I'll take you out where I like to party  :good:
