My Pearl Black clio RS 2.0 16v
« on: 29-Apr-2008, 02:12:08 »
So after posting my first car, i thought i'd post my other clio too
So this is my second clio, bought it 3 months ago, after craving for a clio RS for a long time i finally got one :D
This one was just what i wanted it to be, offcourse it had to be black (i'm with Mr Ford on this one), it had to be one of the early Phase2 models, because they don't have traction controll, nor anti spinning controll, as i want my car to be as pure as it can :good:

Specs;

2.0 litre straight 4
16 valves, with dohc and variable valve controll (Vtec kicks in at 5k rpm Yo )
172 Bhp and 200Nm of torque
1030 kilo
5 speed manual
0-100kph = 7sec
0-150kph = 14sec

Only mods i've carried out so far are a K-tec ultra performance race exhaust, k&n 57i, separate crank breather setup, Powerflex polyurethane bushes, Brembo High Carbon brake disks with Ferrodo ds2500 pads, sony X-plod speakers and matt black OZ F1 wheels with goodyear eagle F1 tyres.

Mods to come are; matched and ported inlet plenhum and manifold (maybe ceramic coated) with pfte gaskets, ITG (induction technology group) airfilter, larger inlet butterflyvalve, 4-2-1 exhaust manifold and decat, short gear ratio gearbox, remap, Bilstein or H&R coilovers.
On the maybe list are agressive cams, balanced & lightend bottom end, carbon bucket seats and a roll cage.

Pics (taken after a nice polish)  :)

quick vid :woot:

Hope you like

grtz

Welcome onboard mate!! very nice Clio RS you've got there... looks great in black with black wheels, and it's good you've gone for the 15in wheels instead of the usual 16in :) as for the mods, they all loook pretty good... especially the exhaust  if I were you I would drop it a bit, especially with the 15in... but I like what you're ding and you'll end up with a serious quick car! :good:

Wheels are 16" renault verions, i have them in 15" too, but imo they are too small, and you won't notice the diffrence on the road tbh, however i will put them on for some track action :)
Lowering will be done when she's due a service, which is in a few weeks, i'll be putting on some eibach pro kit springs which i have from my dci. Coilovers are for later, first the engine mods, as the car allready handles brilliant as it is.

Anyways thank you all for the nice comments, much appreciated :D

Very nice little car! One of my neighbours has a phase 1 Clio RS 2.0 (also in black) which looks and sounds very nice!

If you plan on keeping this car for a while and you have the money, you should consider individual throttle bodies, together with the more agressive cams. Really the ultimate in N/A tuning... Instant throttle response and killer induction sound!

Check this one out!

BTW that Sahara dust sucked, I had it all over my car too :death:

^ at some point we considered keeping the 2004 Clio and start working on it... being one of the first things those individual throttle bodies, plus many more things done to the engine that I have no idea how to translate to english LOL! thing is... turn the 2004 Clio Cup into a 230hp FWD 850kg F2000 car, or go the "safe way" and get a 2006 Clio Cup... and I think it's gonna be the second

^ You're right, that's always the safer and cheaper option. That way you have a newer car, with a lesser stressed engine, so you'll safe costs on less frequent rebuilds and maintenance etc... But purely for the thrill/fun factor you can't beat a highly tuned N/A engine with ITB's.. that's always been a dream for me

Let's not forget that a 2004 Clio is as fast as a 2006... so with all those mods, it could be a killer in the 2000cc class

So if I understand this right, the "unrestricted" F2000 tuned cars run in the same races as the "standard" Clio Cup cars like the one you're driving but in a different class, correct? :nutz:

Well... I know (because I've been told by the owners) that in the last 2 years there has been at least 2 Clios with over 220hp... competing in the same class as ours. Our car still has the original engine, untouched... which makes us the "good boys" of the grid (aka the dumbs) :P

LOL how unfair is that :D
We also have a Clio Cup here in the NL, but all engines have been sealed by Renault so only standard cars can compete.

And the spanish Clio Cup works just like that. Our engine still has the original Renault Sport sealings from the factory  The problem is that in an amateur series like ours, with no control at all, and being all a bunch of friends (most of the time), no one really wanted to start with formal reclamations against the others  as unfair as it was

Sorry for the thread hijacking Vincent

No worries you highjackers

Anyways it's my dream too, to put jenvey throttle bodies on the rs, but problem is that i would never ever, not in a thousand years would pass MOT (APK in holland, de schouwing in belgium) with them on, and i'm not prepared to go trough all the trouble of getting them on and off every time its MOT time. I even have to take my exhaust off and the powerflex bushes out for MOT or it wouldn't pass FFS

Carbs are ok though, but no ITB's

^ That's strange Vincent, why wouldn't you pass the test? Is the MOT that strict in Belgium? I've always been told that ITB's run cleaner compared to carbs, so that can't be the problem... I used to have a Peugeot 205 Rallye with 2 twin-choke Weber DCOE40 carbs and never had any problem with the APK or anything. Even had a straight through exhaust system which was quite loud, but no problems with that either..
