Grand Prix Retro 2007
« on: 19-Dec-2007, 01:17:06 »
A great meeting back in time, with early tales talking about F40s, and personal memories going back to 2005 and a Bugatti EB110 SS... well, let's hope the future will be bright for them.

It was actually quite nice: not many ppl or cars: easy to talk with drivers, take pics and just enjoy the cars, but not the most exciting lineup I guess.

Enjoy the pics. Full gallery here: http://www.swisscarsightings.com/grandprixretro2007.html

oh that 2002 Turbo makes me mouth water!!

fucking eh, when I see topics like this it really makes me sad about the cars we have today.

dont get me wrong, we have great cars today but I dont think they compare at all to the cars of old.
in beauty, and what the cars meant, its just another story. maybe I will be saying this in 20 years about todays cars, but to be honest I dont see it. but time will tell.

Love how people are keeping their classic alive, and taking them out too!

That model is actually the ancestor of the 412 and 400i. it's a 365 GT4

I'm afraid my post will be nothing original - what an amazing 2002. I've sorta been getting more into BMW's during the last year. Couldn't stand them before at all. :D

So true. Today you see the latest E92 M3 and you get zero excitement. Then you see the E30 or the 2002 Turbo (or even a 2002 tii) and it's "w00t!!! awesome machine"

Cars are no longer what they used to be... and with all those electronics, I'm pretty sure they won't last much either :?

The french and italian hunters are the key to the success of this section :D

Smylait, Salegosse, ZondaC12... Darkel is already onboard!

Nope, definitely not the same guy. ZondaC12 works lot more with shadows/highlights than ice does.

this is why a lot of times I do not post much in the threads with newer cars, they just are not exciting to me and are very bland.

and also why I do not plan on buying any new cars any time soon. people think I am nuts when they ask me what am I looking into and i tell them "vw rabbit GTi from '83/84" or something else from the 80's.

I would love to get a Fiat 131 Abarth. The rally version kicked some ass back then!!

ahhhhhhhhhhh, I need me something oldddd with a personality!!

The 131 Sport is also a nice and rare find dude.

As for myself, if I'm gonna find a good deal on a well kept Beetle...

Like you, modern cars simply don't make me smile when I open the garage, and that's the only important thing carwise IMO :D

Ohh, so your looking for a Beetle uh? which model in particular?

I too have been looking. When I get back from Portugal, I am going to be in need of buying a car, right now my list of possible choices are the following, 914, 928, 944 all ranges of those models, Fiat X 1/9 Bertone, and Beetle '69 or older, VW Rabbit GTi, Scirocco, or MK1 Jetta 2 door coupe only, Audi Quattro Coupe's, maybe a BMW 325i '89 or so and there are 2 Lancia Delta's in Canada!!

I so want to get back into a older car!!

there def is. a few towns past mine, you are guarenteed to alwasy run into a few Beetles in mint condition. and have seen countless beauties at the beach.

my most memorable one was some old american car, I dont recall which one it was but all I recall was it had a CT license plate, I had to do a quadrople take. I saw it, looked back and couldnt believe it, had to look back again and agian and again. how crazy is it of all place I see a CT registered car in Portugal.
