Your internet connection
« on: 22-May-2008, 16:59:54 »
So, internet @ home, what do you guys have and what do you pay for it?

At my parents I have 20mbit/1mbit cable, 35GB monthly limit. Bundled with telephone (free landline calls between 4pm and 8am) for about €65/month. In august their limit will go up to 60GB.

Since I'm moving out within about a big month, I've also started looking at my options.
I'll be getting an ADSL2+ line, 24mbit/3mbit, 100GB monthly limit. Bundled with telephone (VOIP), landlines are free of charge. Monthly it'll cost me €49. And somewhere in july the limit will raise to 200GB. During happy hours, 1am - 1pm traffic counts for 50%.

External

Internal(lots of people here are on the same network)

and it's probably more than that d/l, I can download from somebody in the same network at 3mbytes(not bits)/s
For this one I pay 20 euros/mth and it includes cable tv and phone.

At my other home I've got a DSL connection, 4Mbits/1Mbit, it includes phone and I pay 25 euros/mth  :bad: it's worse than the 1st one and more expensive, but that ISP isn't available there.

None of them have any d/l limitations.

I have a 12Mbit down / > 1 Mbit up DSL connection at home. It's about 30€ a month, but comes bundled with iptv with 40+ channels for no extra fee (including free devices: digibox for receiving tv and a router).

I'm pretty happy with the connection, the upload speed is the only downside, but besides that it's a great package.

At my parents' home, 2mb, no limits (but just from this month 'till the end of the year), 18€ (or something like that)

I had at home an ADSL 1Mb/512kb and the cost was 29,90€/month without limits. I'm thinking about getting a 3mb cabel connection in here, but the upload line is only 128kb so it really sucks. The price is not bad at 40,90S$/month.

I think I have the fastest download speed so far  lol

This is the internet I have at my place in SoCal for school. My roomies and I split a internet/cable bill that is a bit over $100 a month.

I'm back in the saddle. :) This should be fast cable connection, but it doesn't feel like it.

I don't trust these speedtests very much by the way. I pay 75S$ per month.

How did I do? This is at home; my new office has a T-1 connection but it is so uber controlled and firewalled it is useless!

Isn't that just the modern way, like with cars. They have all the powers of the world from a small engine, but they are twice as heavy as their predecessors.

1 mbit crap here, no limits, though.

I wanted to switch to 8 mbit but apparently there's been a problem with the phone lines in my street, and i won't be able to switch it any time soon  :bad:
