Bloody cold it was in the wintertime and I had no big motivation to work on the car.
So I am hoping for some warm weekends this month to have the car ready by mid of april.

It will receive a small service, gets some upgrades + some parts will be renewed.

small pic of all the fluids :) Luckily I got some good prices on most of the products.
I once have seen the diff oil in the store for 40euro per liter. I was wondering what it will cost from a main dealership.

gearbox oil is not ordered yet.

17in Compomotive rally-spec golden wheels, still to be fitted. Took part in a local rally, and also in a "regularity" race at the Barcelona track... some mechanical problems here and there, a engine that works like new with around 210-215hp...

Carbon airbox should be installed this spring... if all goes as planned

Sadly my total mileage this year with the m3 was zero :(. I thought to myself I do it the right way and instead of doing a quick fix and driving the car for 2month until the winter arrives Ill
do it the right way and renew/improve alot of things now.

I finally removed the rear axle completly to discover that the dampers are completly collapsed which I did not notice before.
You can see on the picture that when I fully compressed them they did not return into normal position.

Main reason why I dropped the axle was because those rubber bearings on which the axle is mounted were fucked up. Getting those out with the axle still on the car is possible but a nightmare.
The combination of aluminium core of the bushing + steal car + alot of pressure from the car + contact corrosion makes it quite hard even with special bmw tool to get it out.
So I dropped it complete to have more comfort when getting the old bushings out.

Normally this is one piece :D

my new wheels for the winter time - because I want to avoid having the car on axle stands all the time

One worried Phobo - will the car ever be complete again? :D I hope so

plan for the next months:
install fresh stainless steal brake pipes,
install fresh polyurethane bushings
install new upgraded differential cover + fluid change of course
renew brake calipers
powdercoat the rear axle
maybe add some plates plus excentric screws that I can adjust camber and track
reinforce rear axle
upgraded strut bearings
new e-brake cables
reinforced anti roll bar mounting point
...

and thats only the rear axle but I hope to finish that first.

^^I am trying to keep the prices within the limits. This means alot of price comparing. Exactly the same brake pipes for example are also for the double price on the market.
I am also doing most of the stuff myself (learning so many new things atm) and I am letting the tricky parts do some of my friends -> for example the welding

All this helps alot keeping the costs down.

The deadline atm is 1. April 2010 for the first roll out.  After some testing the first tour should be to the Groß Glockner (austrias highest mountain). After that Ill decide if I need some backing plates on the brake disks for better cooling :D
