I never jump in a boat before I die!Scary mum...
Dang, somehow I missed this topic until now! Very cool vids, thanks for sharing. Skaala, in some of the earlier vids the boats do an amazingly quick stop in the water, how is that done? It looks like they stop in only a few meters from a good clip! Btw, 62 kts for a boat is damn impressive! If I ever get to Norway (hoping to travel to Scandinavia next summer), I would love to come visit your company! How far are you from Oslo?
It is done with waterjet propulsion. You can shift the beam of water coming out the back with a round hydraulic bucket so that the beam shoots out forwards underneath the boat instead of going backwards. Our boats stop from full speed forwards to a dead stop in one and a half boatlength. The high speed versions with normal sterndrives does not have this possibility. We use a lot of hamilton waterjets How a Hamilton Waterjet works
That's awesome! It looked like it was hitting an arresting cable on aircraft carrier or something...but now I see, it's just like über thrust reversers on an airplane, but for water, very neat.
Nice quality video Thomas, did your company filmed that vid with your new AStar ?
we are renting a black and yellow Colibiri in the meantime. My brother is just finished with his A-THPL (CPL) lisence and we have a new experienced pilot hired full time as well.
