Porsche Cayman S Sport leaked
« on: 25-Jul-2008, 13:15:52 »
Not sure if this is the Cayman we were discussing in the Lotus Evora topic.... with 320hp, LSD, PDK 'box and direct injection - but seems that Porsche is working on a Sport version of the Cayman, with 303hp (a bit poor if you ask me) but - I assume - a tweaker, more focussed chasis - PASM included. Something like the old 968 ClubSport. I wonder how close in terms of performance this is gonna be from the 997 Carrera.

The GT3RS "decoration" is a bit lame, sorry... they should have gone for something more original and personal IMO.

no this isn't the car we were discussing in the evora topic, this is just a lame attempt at extracting a lot of money for some simple "upgrades"... the real revised cayman and boxter will be presented at the end of the year or in 2009

And no, it's not like the 968 ClubSport since that was actually lighter and less luxurious than the standard coupe, and crucially, cheaper as well! Now that was a time when Porsche had some good ideas 8)

I agree that the paint scheme is lame. As for the underneath stuff, only worth it if it will have LSD.

I never thought I could like the Cayman due to its odd rear end, but I saw one in white in Japan which was nicely dressed up and it looked great!

Would love to pick up a used Cayman years down the road.

It's a bit silly to put GT3RS style livery on it and only make very minor adjustments. Save this paint job for a real bump up in performance. I know they are worried about preserving the 911 - Cayman hierarchy, but why don't they just bite the bullet already and come out with a Cayman that hasn't been sandbagged, and then give that Cayman this paint job...

Danis was right:

i read today in the auto, motor und sport that the Porsche Cayman S will be available as a "Sport Edition" with 303 bhp. It's kind of a last edition, before the new model will start.

price: 70000 €
limited edition: 700 will be available

still don't like the "coxter"....I hate when models have to be held back not to compete with others..just like JC mentiones in the first review...he likes to thing that a car is built to as good as it can be... :nutz:
