Finally sorta different from the DB9/S/V8 look they've had going for a while. You can still see some of the same lines, but it's definitely taking a new direction.

Quote
The One-77 to indicate its exclusivity: only 77 units will be constructed. With a price tag of nearly $2 million (£1M), the One-77 promises to be a spectacular machine, helped along by a 7.0-liter V12 that's sure to be impressive. The body will be aluminum with a carbon-fiber chassis. Estimates figure the One-77 will be able to launch from 0-60 in about 3.5 seconds and top out at over 200 MPH.

it's a goodlooking car on its own, but if you compare it to other supercars you see hints of Z06 in the air vent behind the front wheels, and the nose / headlights appear to have some 599 GTB about them, although it's hard to say from this angle... But I'm curious to see more of it :) it seems a bit cleaner than the DBS which is definitely good...

I don't like this car at all. I don't like its name, I don't like its looks, the performance numbers are not that spectacular and the price tag is ridiculous!

Christ. That's such a British design.

AM Guy: Seen the new Maserati Gran Turismo? Look brill innit?
AM Man: Aye, we ought to do sumfink like it. With a bit more balls. Italians always do things a bit poof.
AM Dude: Exactly. Sim'lar profile, but bigger, lower, wider, angrier, and with some soft line t'make it sexay.
AM Intern: Lads, dun f'get the exhaust. Make it 2 or 4, but make it 'icking loud. Monster Banshee sort of.

*nods in unison*

AM Boss: That'll be fookin' expensif tho. Let's just make a few, keep it exclusive, and sell 'em all for a stupid price to 'em Arabs. They like all that pricey stuff. Look at that Hermes shite they buy for their birds. Let them handle the resale if anybody wants one. But keep 3, we need one to lend to Clarkson for some hype, and the other two for some fancy English folk. We can't forget 'em - we're patriotic that way.

*nods in unison*

AM Boss: Right then wankers. One more cuppa, and off to work it is.

LMAO at Sir_GT's story

interestingly, the engine is now 7.0 litres which just happens to be the maximum size for roadcar-derived engines in LMP1 cars at Le Mans... coincidence, if you consider that AM have stated they want to win Le Mans overall, and if possible as soon as in 2009 (because that's 50 years after their first win)?
I'm not saying this whole car is an excuse for that engine, but the engine choice is definitely related to the Le Mans program...

ROFLMAO @ Sir_GT  :hillbilly:  hahahahaha, dude, that's hilarious...

Laughing aside, I'm glad to see AM heading in a slightly new direction. It looks pretty sleak and I like the bare aluminum look, but god damn, $2mil is pretty foking expensive!

Looks very Vanquish-ish... I love it! :)

But I find hard to justify that price in a car like that. Seems that everybody has gone crazy lately. The Reventon is a good example: offering nothing else than a slighty improved Murcie for a million. I remember the Macca F1, it costed a million dollars back then... but it was so damn justified. Like the other homologation specials like the CLK-GTR or the Porsche GT1.

Now it seems that everybody wants to offer a limited run of high-end cars for that price... but the result will never be as good as the F1. Sorry but I think all these cars are a waste of money. For that, you can buy a DB9 and a DBRS9 for the track. And probably a Elise for the weekends too.

Don't get me wrong, I actually like the design. It's just that I could imagine that very conversation going on at AM HQ.

However, The price tag is BS. What's with the stupid prices nowadays? For your car to be worth 1M, it has to be absolutely groundbreaking (like the Veyron or the Macca), but for a steroid-injected AM which, let's face it, still uses non-bespoke Ford-sourced parts? That's a joke.

well according to an Autocar blog, it'll be made bespoke to the owner's wishes:
Quote
Aston promises its One-77 owners unprecedented input into their cars. If someone wants it to be a two-plus-two, he’ll get his car that way. If another wants it to be a convertible, that’ll be fine, sir. If the owner wants to take part in his own tyre tests or suspension development programme, he’s welcome.

so in that respect it's sort of a coachbuilding program with certain standardized parts...

That's not-half bad if that's the case. Although I wonder how they would react if you said something like "can we stick a BMW engine in that instead?"

For that kind of money they should bring the daughters/wifes of AM emplyees to the factory and let the buyer choose his own harem while they build the car.  :D

Finally something fresh and innovative from the technical point of view. I wouldn't want Aston Martin to follow Lamborghini's footsteps by repetitivelly introducing limited editions of cars that already exist, with only a few minor changes (Vantage N400, DB9 LM etc.)

Can't wait to see more.

This reminds me of Ford's GR-1 concept.
