Well... for us mortals these service bills are pretty much unaffordable... but the ones lucky enough to own a Bugatti Veyron do not even ask for the price, they just send their accountant and problem solved.

Not really there are many exotic buyers that can't afford maintenance, thats why they keep their garage queens.

I don't think that is really the case with the Veyron though.  That car costs so much from the start that you would either have to be extremely rich or extremely stupid to buy one.

I think that maintenance costs are similar to those of a McLaren F1 ... which are extremely high  but 17k for a rear tyre  and they change it every 5000 km isn't it ?

didnt the McLaren have a clause that after driving a certain amount of miles the engine have to be rebuilt? I am almost sure it was the McLaren, something like 10k miles maybe?

That seems very unrealistic. So to this day BMW is rebuilding the Macca F1 engines? I think they'd make it a bit more reliable then that. But then again who knows, maybe you're right.

I´ve read in a German car mag that a replacement engine costs 250.000 €, and a replacement gearbox 100.000 €... The Veyron is simply in a league of its own  ;)

I highly doubt that. The engine in the F1 is probably one of the stoutest parts of the whole car. The engine most definitely lasts longer than 10,000 miles, as there are several cars with well over that mileage, including one with somewhere in the region of 35,000 miles, and to my knowledge it has not gone through any major engine work, much less 3 re-builds.

Speaking of clauses, McLaren did have a clause with BMW legally binding them to the fact that every S70/2 would produce at minimum 627bhp...
