Looks like a nice driving day.  :good: Just wondering, but is there any reason you don't have the 600hp Miata anymore and are back to a nearly stock one? Just seems a little crazy since you had a 600hp one, now you have a nearly stock one but you're already talking about taking it up to 400hp...

600+ hp in a miata is pretty unstreetable. You cannot cram enough rubber under one without going with a shortened solid rear axle. 400ish HP is much more usable, and I can achieve that with a much more sensible turbo. To get the 600ish hp you have to use a pretty large turbo (modded SC61 in the last cars sake) and it was a bit laggy. Also to hold anything reliably above 400hp you have to use a stronger tranny and rear diff, I would prefer not to have to go through the cost and time of converting another miata to a RX-7 tranny. I remember I could be cruising at 80 down the freeway and go down a couple gears and start smoking the tires in the last car, I want something a little more usable this time around. The last car was a interesting achievement, but for a daily driven car, it was not the best!

Makes good sense.  :good:

Not to mention when you cross a certain power to displacement ratio, it seems that when you break something, the cost to fix it goes up exponentially in relation to how much power you make.

I was never 100 percent comfortable and sure of the reliability of a 600+ hp 1.8 liter, I was just waiting for it to break. The stroker kits may increase the reliability, but when I built the car 7 or 8 years ago it was with the best stuff, but they have progressed alot since.

400ish HP is much more achievable and reliable.

Yeah I can go much lower, I just need coilovers. I may modify the struts on the current setup to drop the rear another inch and a half.
miatas can go very low

Lookin' good Paul!! Standard Miatas don't look too exciting... but with wide racing wheels like yours, the car gets a whole different personality! :good:

Lookin sweet Paul! Just need to tuck those wheels slightly into the wheel wells and you'll be golden... are you thinking about some fender flares?

Yeah it will be lowered more, and I am gonna roll the fenders.

I am going with a light flywheel and HD clutch this month to make sure I can hold next month's addition (MP62 blower)

coilovers are on order, should be here in a week or so.

Then it will be fender rolling time, then much much lower it will be :)

I had to order some new tires to, the last drift event killed my current set :D
