Nice vid!! Good think of Leno is that he just not keep the cars for himself, but rather "share" them with all of us with vids like this
"By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail."(Benjamin Franklin - 1706-1790)
the thing with Leno, is simple. he is a simple dude, who actually enjoys and is very knowledgable about cars. he is not some rich, retard who likes to show off and knows nothing.
Very nice from him indeed I wonder how much it costs him to run all these cars And he doesn't seem to have modern Ferraris, does it ?
I have no idea how much it costs, but I can guess: A LOT of fucking money. As to why no modern Ferraris, I don't think he likes them very much, between the flappy paddle gearboxes and the bullshit Ferrari puts its owners through he's put off by them.
I've never seen one in his garage. Lamborghinis, Masers yes... but no Ferraris. I guess he either have them in another facility... or just hate them for being highly overrated (and overpriced)
flappy paddles are an option, I don't see why he dislikes Ferrari so much, I've heard so many things from him that it's boring... he wouldn't buy an Enzo cause it wasn't a true sportscar but he bought an SLR cause it's a great sportscar either hes stupid or Mercedes gave it to him for some publicity... either way since that I don't see him as such a great enthusiast...
Flappy paddles were not an option on the Enzo. Leno's argument is, the Enzo is designed as a hardcore supercar, one should have the option of changing their own gears, hence why he has a CGT which has a real manual. The SLR is not considered to be a supercar in the same sense, it is more of a 'super-GT' and therefore not having a manual is in it's character. Also, he draws a distinction between automatics of the torque converter variety, and flappy paddle 'boxes. I think his argument is: if you want a manual, get a manual; if you want an automatic, get an automatic. Also, I would say that flappy paddle gearboxes contribute a great deal to the fact that a growing contingent of Ferrari buyers are posers. Obviously some buy the F1 gearbox for track work, but many buy the F1 'box because they simply can't be bothered to shift gears (or don't know how) or the only purpose of buying the car is to show off that they can afford a Ferrari. (sorry, that is harsh, but true unfortunately) This part of Ferrari, and the absolute arrogance the factory sometimes displays has a tendency to put off some potential Ferrari owners. If Leno isn't a great enthusiast, who is? The guy who buys an F430 Spider F1 for $75,000 over sticker to drive it around downtown Miami in 'auto' mode and show-off how rich he is?Finally, don't take this to mean that I hate Ferrari. I like many of their cars and respect their long and glorious racing history, but like any car maker, they are not perfect; despite what many people seem to think.
^By the same token though, people cam buy a Porsche with an Automatic box, which is even worse in my opinion.
