Ferrari 348 TS - Sophia
« on: 27 - Dec - 2007, 23:36:29 »
I am sure none of you have seen it before

Now 1 year old and 6100 miles later, I must say Sophia has been a sweet lady. Fires up on the key without hesitation and is keen to hit the road no matter what the weather. Has been quite reliable so far (touch wood).

Photos from her first road trip - bought the car in Salt Lake City and drove her to Houston - it was 1700 fun filled miles - managed to visit Arches National Park and Canyonlands National park - was the only sports car there

still a great car :D the pics from your first trip are beautiful, especially the first and fourth ones!

I never read a report of your trackday, how was it?

It was awesome. The car has confidence inspiring brakes and is very neutral on most corners with a tendency to understeer. the non-assisted steering makes it very easy to place the car where you need with lots of steering feel. The long throttle pedal makes it easy to modulate the power on corner exit. not much body roll. The only problem is with the gearbox - it takes a lot of time to shift and is recalcitrant sometime. But the last time I went out, I got a better handle on the shifting. I am learning to drive the car better. The other thing I like is that given its huge oil reservoir - 11 litres of oil, it never overheated during the run. :)

good to hear :D a classic italian thoroughbred that you can use for an entire trackday...

Indeed I can imagine shifting that pattern could take awhile to get used to, especially if you're driving quick like on a trackday...

I'm glad to see this topic and our favorite 348 made it over to TAU!  :good:  Its  awesome that you took it out on the track, where a Ferrari is meant to be! Also, I learned a new word today, recalcitrant, thanks professor sameerrao.

Btw, 11 L of oil is f'in massive, and I guess that means you have to buy 11 L of oil everytime you change the oil...?

That's a very cool Ferrari. I'm glad to hear its given you no troubles either, something you'd usually expect from a used Italian.

I've seen most of those pics before, but they still stun me. Amazing!

Thanks for the video. It's a nice noise indeed. I do prefer the 355 and the 430's sounds a bit more, but this makes a great noise nevertheless.

Doesn't sound too loud from the inside either judging by the video. Is that so?

It is quite loud with the minimal sound deadening. The video camer used didnt really capture the sound well.

LOL...and I thought it was nice and civilized inside. Well, who cares about that anyway - it's a Ferrari - you'd want to hear the noise. ;)
