There are a lot of DIYers for 348s because it is relatively simple to work on compared to later cars which requires you to buy a lot of computerized equipment.

5000 Euro is cheap! Mine is likely to come out at 6000 Euro. Smile Fortunately you spend this amount once in 5 years Smile

As Pterps said, buying a Ferrari is expensive. You got to keep about $8-10K aside for maintenance every 5 years.

But I promise you the experience is more than worth it! I wouldn't trade it for any other model from another marque in the same price range.

BTW isn't 5000 Euro cheap for an E34 M5? I bet it wont be in pristine shape and would need a good bunch of money to maintain it.

In a good condition(not top) the prices are about 7000€, but you can buy it even for 5000€ in czech as only few people want that kind of car especially in these days when people loose jobs and stuff MrGreen

So its 1200€ a year, thats not that expensive afterall Thumbs Up

Well 1200€ a year is service cost of a normal midlle-upper class car that is used as a daily driver car, servise at official dealer I mean.
Our family Opel Vectra was used ALOT and had service costs 2-3000€ a year - no crashes just usual service and mantainance thats probably the reason I will never buy Opel again

I think per km service costs are irrelevant when it comes to non-daily use cars. The costs are what they are - adding a km factor just muddies up the issue.

A person who drives little will get huge per km cost while a person who drives a lot gets a low per km costs. But in the end they both shell out the same amount of cash
 one way or another.

The only way km costs are relevant are towards depreciation and perhaps if you use the car daily (~10,000 miles per year), the mileage done will force you to service it more often - once in 3 years versus a 5 year interval increasing the overall costs.

+1, thanks dood!

I guess this would be the typical opinion of a non-DIY'er but, I can see why you didn't want to do this yourself. Plus like you mentioned earlier, for resale purposes, F-car buyers like to know the car had been serviced by a pro.  Now I can see why!!

maybe a cost per car-related grin would be more appropriate  Wink
