$1 or $1MM - Deal or No Deal - what would you do?
« on: 05-Nov-2008, 13:36:47 »
So you have 2 remaining boxes: one with one miserable dollar, and another with a million. The "bank" is giving you $600K if you decide to quit the game, $600K that are already yours, in your pocket. That, or playing for one million... which you only have 50% of the probability to get. Otherwise you'll get zero, nothing. What would you do?

Stupid asshole... I would have settled for the $603,000 that were already in my pocket :nutz: :whip:

I always like the excuse I came here with nothing and I've come here to play... so I don't mind if I leave this place empty handed... BULLSHIT! This guy had $600K in his pocket... and he throw all that away for pure and simple greed.

Yeah, brave, but stupid. I'd probably take the 600k too, it's just too much of a difference.

This might be the wrong time to say this, with the markets being in such a poor shape, but with good investment you could easily turn that 600k into a million or more.

Greed sucks. I can't help but feel however, that this shit might be scripted. :D

It's not just greed, it's stupidity too, if he would have guessed the right one he would have gained 400k more, but if he got it wrong he would have lost 600k and he did.

It depends if you are a gambler or not, oh yes it is easy to say in the aftermath that one would have taken the money and walked away...

On the other hand how often do you get a 50-50 chance of winning $1mill....

He also had a 100% chance of winning 600K $. Seriously, that's borderline stupid.

I do agree to a certain degree though. If he had won the million, we'd probably be here saying "what balls on the guy, congrads". :P

I'm sure it's pretty easy to get caught up in the moment and think "Man, I have a 50% chance at winning a million dollars!", but the fact of the matter is you also have a 50% chance at losing it all. I would take the $600k and run with it! Imagine what you could do with that money, even after taxes!

Also, I hear if you ever make it to the last two cases, you're supposed to switch them. You're somehow supposed to have a higher chance of winning the higher amount if you switch 'em.

How many times in a row did this guy have to be correct to get to the $600K vs a $1mil decision? I'm guessing a bunch, so he probably felt that he was on the most awesome winning streak ever, and everyone was cheering him on, etc. It's easy for us to look on and say "what a dumbass" but we were not there...

But yea, I would have taken the $600K!

I would have said "Deal" at the first 6 digit offer

If I ever make it on that show (I'm not going to even try, but...) My line is going to be "Howie, you should rename this show 'free money!'" when I hit the button.

I have been thinking about what I would do if I go on deal or no deal...and I think the most frustrating thing I could have done was; pick a suitcase lets say number 7 then just say I take this and walk out...

That would have been hillarious and in most cases the people just end up with the one they pick at the begining anyways so...

simple, I am riskin to either be 397,000 richer, or the other way 602,999 poorer...

It depends if you are a gambler or not, oh yes it is easy to say in the aftermath that one would have taken the money and walked away...

he had a 50-50 chance of winning 397,000... he already "had" the 603,000
