My 1965 Porsche 912
« on: 13-Dec-2008, 21:20:12 »
Here she is, already at home, after an epic 400 km drive from Genève to Lugano. We rented a Meriva this morning with dad, drove to Geneva, left the Avis car, put our temp plates on the 912 and drove back home. Luckily the car was in perfect shape as promised by the owner. We even had to drive some 10 km on snow in Ticino, and no fuss.

The 4 cyl boxer engine is basically the same 1600cc found in the late 356 Super 90. Very nice to drive, quite torquey and nice sound, closer to the early 911 rather than the 356. The dog leeg gearbox needs some time to get used to, but it's pretty funny to use afterward (later tonight I kept trying to leave stoplights in the Fulvia in second gear ;) ). Disc brakes all round make for some good stopping power, and we're still talking about a 911 (ok, 912) that weights less than 1000 kg (empty).

Now she just needs some proper plates, and can't wait to shoot it together with the 964 outside!

At first sight she really is. She will be inspected in a deeper way by a mechanic soon, just to discover if there is any major rust problem somewhere, but the vital part like the engine are perfectly running!

wow congratz to your new porker - looks great only the foglights are a bit out of order

Is the plattform of the carlifter only attached at one side? never seen one of these before.

Yup, the fog lights will be removed ASAP, especially as they aren't working anyway.

As for the car lifter, attached at the back only

I wouldn't remove the foglamps, they look pretty cool IMO

Wow TT! You're not kidding when you say you see a car you like and you're going to buy it!  :good:  What a super cool ride you have. I think it will look even better once you get the fog lights off. From the pics it looks to be in stunning shape (and then you consider it is 43 years old!), I hope your mechanic gives it a clean bill of health on the inspection.  :)

Hey TT, what do you think about MGBs?
