S1 lotus esprit, one of the best looking/handling/driving cars in the world imo, you can't realy go wrong with any lotus anyway.

There's one on a belgian auction site, an original JPS edition no less, not in great shape but wouldn't mind it

Ok, the wait is really long, dang... still a whole month to wait at worst...

But there is a good news: a good friend, who actually pointed out the Esprit for sale time ago, couldn't restist (was pretty jealous in the end IMO) and placed an order yesterday for a while Exige S! That's definitely cool, because I'll be able to drive it every now and then for sure and would make for some cool pics together with the Esprit.

Also, being white, whenever he'll be bored by it, it could enter the white collection

He bought it through London's dealer, as the GBP is terribly low nowadays and the car costs half the price you pay here!
It would be epic to drive to London in the Esprit, take delivery and drive back with both cars, but probably not doable... nice to dream about it anyway, and nice to know his waiting time is around 8 weeks

That's cool! Isn't there any problem once you want to register the car in Switzerland?

No problem apparenty as the UK model is absolutely identical to the Swiss one. You just need to obtain a certificate about pollution shit, but apparently pretty easy to get!

Yup, you can spec your car as you want and there is no problem in getting an LHD car in London! The you just get a temp UK pltate (you pay a single month) to drive back to Switzerland and that's it!

I'm stunned, Matteo... Your collection seems to be expanding further and further. Congratulations on your Esprit. The S1 sure is most pure form of the Esprit. It's a masterpiece! Giugiaro is a genius. I can't wait to see your new baby in real life!

So... the 15th is approaching fast, so I had to phone the guy to have some infos. Sadly the car didn't pass the inspection as a vintage car in Valais. The reason given was that the steering wheel (which is strictly original) covers part of the instruments... bummer!! Now the owner took the car to Vaud (Lausanne); for it to pass another inspection there, where apparently he knows the right people... it is due to be done this week, so hopefully I'll have some good news in a few days.
The next problem is that the car is on the other side of the Alps, and as I want to drive it back (included in the price there was actually the delivery by flatbed to Ticino, but honestly, I prefer to test the car right away), it could be a problem as there were some heavy snowfalls in the north, and as we speak, many roads are covered in snow and some even closed. And you definitely don't want to drive such a car on summer tires on a snowy road...

So, I guess first things first: let's wait for it to pass the inspection and only afterward consider how to drive it back home...

You know, in the end we found snow on the highway near the Alps when taking home the 912, and it was expected, but it was too tempting
