Got me one of these. It was for free as well. My old cellphone stopped producing any sound, so I sent it in under warranty, they fixed it, and then the shipping company lost the package. So I got a full refund and bought me this one :)

2010 Macbook Pro 15" 2.53 GHz Intel Core i5

This is my new work laptop. Got this baby on tuesday. I had a black Macbook previously and really liked the small form factor and at first would have liked a 13" as well. When Apple announced the 13" would still have a Core 2 Duo, I dropped that idea. I have to say I'm not at all disappointed by the size. It doesn't feel much more clunkier then the 13" at all, easy to carry around and not much heavier. My personal laptop is a 15" Dell Inspiron, which compared to this is almost twice as thick so this feels really nice. Also the screen real estate is nice to have. Talking about the screen - it's gorgeous. The LED backlighting really makes a difference. I also love the multi-touch gestures under OS X as well as the keyboard backlight!

At first I wanted an i7, but sadly that went just slightly over budget. Having used this for a few days I'm totally satisfied with the performance. Very quick and snappy, I think on everyday usage there probably is no difference with the i7.

I've bootcamped Windows 7 on it as well, but haven't used it too much yet so I can't comment on the performance too much. I can say that installing bootcamp drivers for a x64 version of Windows 7 is a pain, since the installer I had said my hardware doesn't support a 64bit Windows (which is obviously bullshit).

I've been a huge Windows supporter for the longest (and still am), but with this latest addition I now have 3 Mac computers in my use and only one PC. Combined with the iPhone, I'm really starting to look like an Apple fanboy.

If the product works then the product works. The snootiness of paying extra is well, plain snootiness. ;)

Nice! I've been thinking about getting a new computer. My PC I built has become my media center and a 1080p LG TV is not good for editing photos.

I'm up in the air on what I should get. I'd love one of the new 27" i7 iMacs, but I just feel its more practical to get a Mac Book Pro, ya know, since its portable. My current laptop is pretty outdated so the upgrade would be nice, but I'm looking for performance. I wonder just how good the i7 Macbook Pro is for photo and video editing plus maybe a little gaming?

The iMac is expected to refresh by November. The current one was refreshed October 20 of last year.

MBP's great, Apple refreshed it 93 days ago so don't expect it to be refreshed any time soon. Just wish they would at least stick a i3 or i5 in the 13-inchers.

The i7 should be more then enough, probably even the two i5's will do a pretty good joob at both!

Hmm.. if I can get a good deal on the iMac i7 with good specs I might just do that... then that leaves room for a Win7 tablet!

ordered a new laptop for travel and work today..need something with power so editing large raw files and full hd video files on the go is easy. The normal choice would be a fully specced macbook pro......but sorry, I cant get used to the interface in mac osx...ideally I would have gotten a mac book pro with windows 7. Instead I went for this: (I already have another 256GB SSD harddrive I will use)

Anyone else used Dell precision laptops? It is basically only Dell we use at work, but I haven't tried anyone from the precision series yet.

Not a bad looking laptop. Design and hardware-spec wise.

I feel like I could get a better bang for buck if I went with a PC rather than a Mac. If I got a Macbook I would definitely install Win7 on it, Virtual or dual boot.

I have never owned a Mac, but I'm leaning towards OS X because of the unix base. It will allow me to get more indepth with the hacking/information security tools out there.

True.. everyone uses the BackTrak distro these days, installing it as a VM. I just like having a local unix terminal ;)
