Buying a used or bnew car in Florida...
« on: 05-Jan-2008, 05:11:36 »
I'm currently looking for a used car for my 11 month stay in the US or buy a bnew one. If I do buy a used one I dunno where to search for one. If I were to buy a bnew one I dunno what options there are to buy one.

Any help would help. My brother's suggesting I get a Dodge Charger but where I am living now you would rarely see one. Nissan's 350z is so plentiful here that it makes it the "Civic" of Naples.

don't get a Charger...they're rubbish! lol. 350Zs are equally rubbish.

if you're only staying in the states for 11 months...why don't you just sign a 12 month lease? you definitely could....

then you should get one of these a Saturn Sky (Opel GT in Europe):

If I were to buy bnew I'd ship it back home to the Philippines. If I go used I'd sell it 30 days before I leave the US.

I'm worried that my having a neutral or bad credit rating would make leasing unpractical...

A friend of mine just bought an Opel GT, and it feels pretty good, better than I expected to be honest. I guess the Saturn Sky is the same exact thing, with the 2.0T and 264hp... a good option I would say

Where are you planning to stay in the US? obviously it's not the same Miami than Colorado

If you do buy a new car and ship it back to the Philippines, get something nice that would be hard or rare to get over there.

Personally, I'd just look through all the local classifieds, http://florida[dot]craigslist[dot]org, ebaymotors.com, local news paper, etc and find the best deal on something cool.

I'm actually looking at cars that are rare/uncommon in the Philippines. I'll be living in Naples, FL til the end of the year. I still need to find out what I have to do to bring it in legally into the country without needing to bribe anyone.

I'm thinking... GTR :D

Yeah I figured if you were to bring something back, it would have to be worth it.

Now about importing the car back with out bribing anyone is very unlikely, but I'm sure you already know that.

I replied to the topic on MW. Same advice.

About how much are you looking to spend?

I'm thinking 4T. We actually found a used Bronco for 3T from a departing employee. I'll probably not buy a bnew car here...

I rather buy a WRX STI from a Philippine-based dealer when I get back. ;)
