Volvo S40 - Sold -
« on: 06-Apr-2009, 21:46:46 »
So, here are the pictures, finally

It's an S40 1.6D 110bhp from 02/2007. We bought it with about 45.000km's on the clock.
It's a momentum topline, so with full leather, dual zone airco, DTSC, rear parking radar, foglights, 15" alloys ...

At the dealer, we arrived about half an hour after they've gotten the car. So it wasn't cleaned yet, ideal to see damage

Pictures from this evening, the car is a bit dirty  and the battery's of the camera where running out so that's why there aren't any good and sharp pics.

Turnsignals are switched with Philips Silvervisions, they do a lot to the frontal look of a car. Doesn't seem that many orange then.

Leather interior, off black.

PDA with modified Tomtom in a brodit holder.

The dash

Bluetooth GPS located in the armrest, and it's connected to an extra antenna that's under the parcel shelf. Without antenna it takes minutes to get a fix, with under 30 seconds.

I've also installed an MP3-player by plugging an FM-modulator into the FM antenna in the rear window with modified 9v-connectors. Volvo is so nice to use non-standard audio equipment, so you can't change out the stereo or add extra equipment directly to it. Only the higher end audio options came with a line in. But no harm done, it was an easy mod, took about 2h including routing all the cables to the arm rest and getting power from the cigarette lighter.

Further plans are to switch out the icky yellow interior lights with leds, and install a 6000k xenon-kit.

And even the clio. The difference in interior quality, ride comfort and most of all noise is huge! The downside is, you don't feel that you're doing 160... Luckily it has CC, so that keeps the right foot from playing to much.

When? When you cough up the money for it ;)

Bigger alloys aren't an option, it rides nice and comfy, don't want to give that up for 17" alloys and 45 tires ...

Looks good. I like the latter round design much more than the previous more edgy version. Congrats! :D

Tnx all :)

Xenon-kit is waiting patiently on the living room table, so are the matching led parking lights. Didn't feel like installing them tonight, to many other things to do first...

[edit]
24 hours later and it's installed :)
And best of all, the computer isn't nagging about any "broken lamps".

The interior lights are all switched from halogen to led's. The lights under the dash where a pain in the ass to switch out, but now it's all done it was well worth it. Looks a lot better now.

Probably :)

In the metal they don't look that blue. It's a 6000k set, so it's white with a little blue tint in them.

i have Xenon since 5 years and will not miss it someday, what a ride in the dark, 6000 K is okay, 9000K is too white and will disturb the other cars.

Spent the afternoon, about 5-6hours, cleaning the car. All meguiars. Wash, clay, paint cleaner, polish & wax. And to finish it of, trim detailer for the black plastic parts...

Mirror mirror on the car... ;) Wasn't easy to photograph the key, the damn thing always went running, the paint is to smooth now! It's always something ;)

I'm actually happy with those 15's and high tires. They filter out imperfections in the really good, and there are a lot of imperfections on the Belgian roads...

And I don't really like evolve their cars...

Okay okay, called yesterday for another set of alloys. We'll probably go pick them up on Wednesday...

A set of used original Volvo ones, 14 spokes with winter tires in 15"

We're planning a skiing trip with steph her parents next winter, and we need winter tires to drive in Germany and Austria. And what's the best time to score a set then just before summer :D
Last time we rode with them in the S60, but my father in law is a big 1m85 so the space in the back was on the small side...

Today I broke the brodit PDA-holder, I wanted to remove it and one of those damn clips broke off  :nutz: Already ordered a new one, should be here on Tuesday or so. But not for the airvent anymore, but it'll be placed on the right hand side of the "waterfall".
