The new PDA-mount arrived today. Got it installed, plus my custom power supply.
Here it's clearly visible, but that's because of the flash. Otherwise you really don't notice it.
Total view, and in the bottom right hand corner is the remote for the mp3-player. I can use it without getting my eyes of the road.
While I was at it, switched out the orange bulbs in the mirrors for silver ones. Doesn't look like an omelet anymore
And remove the "S40" from the trunk.

4 days after the power install, the damn PDA died on me! It refused to charge, battery was still ok, it was the connection that failed after 4 years of usage...
A tomtom go 630 is already installed
But still have to do something about the powercable for it.
Oh well, it keeps me busy...
I've put about 4000km's on it by now and have enjoyed every single one of them. Very good and supportive seats, with the clio I used to get tired out of the car after a long drive with the volvo I don't have this. Stephanie is the best proof that the seats are great, it only takes a couple of minutes until she falls asleep.
Last week or so she started pushing me and telling "honey, move over your using up to much space again!" And that was at 150 or so at a highway in rather bad condition
(for Vincent, the E17 coming from Kortrijk)
the 1.6D is a rather potent engine might not be the fastest but it's smooth and not to thirsty. Get about 6L/100km's, the only downside is the small fuel tank. When I fuel up I get about 43L in it, that's as much as the clio lol...
And sometimes the airco is a bit to aggressive on auto, but then you have to override it for a couple of minutes and all is well again.

good choice with the original tomtom, we have in the company a pda with tomtom software, it dies if you have to go to a customer and don't know the route, then you have to reset this thing, now i have my own navigon, it's much better.

Here are the cables "hidden"
Did this in under an hour. The actual work only took about 20 minutes or so. You spend most time looking for possibilities and ways to route the cables.

It isn't phobo, I hate those things on the windscreen or in plain sight. They tend to distract to much.
And it isn't that much down, it's right next to the radio and airco buttons... You'll see on the RR...

So how about the past few months with the volvo?
Nothing much has changed actually, only wintershoes and leds all around (interior, license plate and backup lights).
I didn't expect the difference with the wintertires to be this big, I can now say I believe
From what I've read online I have a good DSTC-system in the car, it allows for some slip and only kicks in when really needed. Others complain that it kicks in way to fast, on the other hand it was on a dutch board and we all know how well they can drive
Only downside on the quiet and comfortable driving of the volvo, before you know it you drive a lot over the speed limit.
Volvo in action
http://www.circle-driver.de/direct_46214.html
And for some numbers.
Since march we've done a little under 20k km's, good for about 1.150L of diesel and euro's. It averages about 6L/100km, the highest was 6.62 and the lowest 5.33
The only thing that was kind'a on the more expensive side was the maintenance, but that's mostly because those stupid diesel particle filters need a fluid change after 60k km's and that costs a whooping €90+ excl taxes and they chance the oil, air, diesel filter at each service so the first one was a nice €500...
Plans?
Some decent speakers front and rear to replace the crap volvo has put into. A lot of volvo-guys say it's a shame what they've used as speakers in the c30/s40/v50-range...

2 Pioneer compo sets are on the way
One front, one rear.
Got a nice deal on them in Germany, €67 a piece, suggested retail here in BE is about 130 a piece.
Also ordered the Volvo tweeter caps for a whopping €12.4 a piece
Hopefully they arrive shortly, and then the installation adventure can begin as I have to take of the doorpanels...

I HATE UPS!
The idiots are on strike in Belgium and now my package is somewhere at the depot...
And the only thing they tell you on the phone is that the sender of the package has to file a complaint so they can start an investigation...

Oh well, they are on strike in the belgian depot. They want a longer payed break or something.
In the package are speakers...
The frustrating thing is I have some days of from work now, so I have time to install everything and then they strike!

Sucks man. It's always like that though.
Never get too excited, because you know something WILL go wrong
Meanwhile I will install those speakers from your intercepted package into my own car
Thanks UPS!

Speakers have arrived
Friendliness is optional with UPS, I don't expect them to deliver it with bells and whistles but they can at least be polite...
Sunday I'll probably install them, luckily Steph her parents have a semi-heated basement/garage
[edit]
Tomorrow (sunday) I'll install them. Let's hope all goes well

Speakers are installed. Forgot the camera, but to give an idea I'll use some pictures from others
Stock speaker:
Pioneer:
Removing the doorpanels is hard work. Only 2 screws, but everything clicks and you really have to pull to get the doorpanel off.
Drill out the rivets of the stock speakers, drill 4 holes for the mounting rings. Mount the rings, mount speaker, mount hi/lo filter, attach the tweeter, reattach doorpanel and then mount the tweeter and the volvo tweetercap.
Still have to do some proper testing and put the balance right, but it's a big improvement especially for the higher tones. The bass I'm a bit disappointed at first, but that can just be a setting.

These days everybody is going with matching fogs for their xenon's, or with stupid audi type ?DRL's?
I've gone for the retro yellow fog lights
Looks cool I must say, and also adds to visibility in bad weather...
Almost forgot, also got some prancing mooses for the keys
