also adds to visibility in bad weather...

Have you tried that already? Had once the opportunity to try e30 with yellow lights (nut just the bulb) and
especially in the rain it sucked. But looks so great in normal weather condition.

Changed the interior airfilter today and got the airco refilled. When the airco was on it smelled like stinky feet ;)
The airco refill I did at a general carshop, the filter myself. Volvo quoted me +/-€175 for it, now the refill was €90 and the filter €30...

Volvo wasn't very userfriendly when they designed the location of the filter. Next to the gaspedal, so you have to remove it and some plastic under the steering column. It looked like this:

New vs Old, After 3Y/75k KM's it was more then time it got changed...

Also got a new windscreen couple of days ago, thank you insurance company ;) Otherwise it was a big €600...

A friend bought that car last year as well and I have to say I've been very impressed with it. Haven't driven it, but the build quality seems great, as does the ride and the grunt (though I think he has a 2.4 petrol). Also I think this is one of the few, if not the only Volvo that has a great looking center dashboard IMO!

Nothing to do with you recent posts, but just popped into my head seeing this thread.

Saw the windscreen bill today, €660... That's 2years of insurance fee.
And it's not unthinkable that I'll have another crack in the coming months. 80km's of highway each day, and some parts that got fixed after the winter are starting the crack up again so lot's of stones flying around again...

Nope, don't have anything yet. No time to go get some.

Besides, no rush, still want to get my front lip resprayed before doing any detailing, and before doing that, there's still some mechanical/other stuff to finish first.

Last week the harddisk of mp3-player decided to go on an early retirement.
Luckily there are some good guides on the interweb, and after about half an hour the mp3-player looked like this:

Replaced the little harddisk with a compact flash card, player working fine again :D

Was a nice day today to change to the winter tires.
In about an hour all 4 where changed and I was on my way for a little spin to put a little more air in them and to check if everything was ok.
As soon as I left i felt my steering wheel twitching and shaking, loosened and re-tightened everything, still the same problem. Oh well, of to the tire shop maybe the wheels are out of balance.
Their reaction to my explanation wasn't very promising, after they took of the wheels and put them on the balancing machine you could clearly see a bubble on one of the wheels. Meaning I needed a new set for the front wheels
Actually it really sucks, I hoped to drive another year with them. I knew from the profile that was still left on them that I could expect another year and then they had to be replaced. Luckily they had a set in stock from Bridgestone.

We've already marked this year and the next as the year of the tires. Steph her car needs new ones, my summertires have 1mm left until they hit the little markers and they've told me that my rear wintertires will probably need to be replaced next winter. Joyjoy...

On a side note, the slowvo is still going strong. Almost at the 100k-mark, so it's almost out of puberty

They said it's normal for a tire produced in 2004. Storage has nothing to do with it, where stored in a dry basement far away from the elements.
My rear tires are also from 2004, but they are Michelins and according to the store they are tougher then Pirelli's. But it's probably also the last season for those...

Temperatures are rising here again, so it was time to mount the summertires back. They are nearly done for, less then 1mm before the small blocks make contact with the road. Oh well, soon it'll be time to replace those crapy michelin energy's with something better

Also after reading some discussions on the volvo board, I also decided to take out the headlights and give the lenses inside a clean. They are hold into place with 3 screws, so that comes in handy.
On the left a cleaned lens, on the right how it came out of the housing.

So that may be the cause if you experience less lighting then you thought you had when the car was new(er)

In a volvo it's easy to remove the headlamps in total, just pull out a pin tilt it outwards and pull. You don't need midget hands to replace a lightbulb that way ;)

It's not a good time for the volvo...
Almost 5 years old and currently on about 130k km's.

Few weeks ago I had some problems with how the car drove, kind'a rough, even for a diesel. Not fluent at all, and got into limp-mode one morning when driving up a bridge really low in the rev range in 3rd.
Cleaned the EGR-valve and pipes, and then spotted a burst in the pipe between the airfilter & engine/turbo.
Problem solved, €150 for some plastic tubing...

Yesterday 9pm after work, on a national holiday, rattle rattle cloink cloink. Called Volvo Assistance, and got towed at work. V-belt was worn out and got damage to a camshaftpulley/rol. And that only one week after it had gone in for scheduled maintenance at the dealers...

Luckily for me, my Volvo Assistance got extended last service. Since last year you get one year of free VA when you bring your car in for scheduled maintenance at an official dealer. And apparently, it even includes a backupcar for 3 days.
So now I'm driving a brand new Kia Rio 1.4, sounds more exciting then it is, but not a bad car at all...
