2009 Ford Fiesta Zetec
« on: 07-Jun-2009, 11:51:54 »
After driving many many small cars today, we placed an order for a 2009 Ford Fiesta Zetec. (We also drove Honda Jazz, Holden Astra, Mazda 2, Mazda 3, VW Polo, Ford Focus)

It's the 1.6ltr, 5sped manual edition. Seems to have everything you could want in a small car. Air Bags- Driver, Thorax, Knee, Passenger, Head, ESP, ABS, EBD, 5* NCAP, voice recognition for phone etc, ipod, usb stick, power steer, power windows, power mirrors, cruise, alloys, fog lights, etc etc etc.

The only thing is, there is such a demand for these new fiesta's, we could be waiting over 3 months for it to arrive from europe and none of the dealers here have one. The one dealership who did have one in stock, wouldnt sell it because they need it to show potential customers...... :whip:

I must say after driving it, I can see why there is a wait on these things.. Fantastic fun to drive for a small car. Ok so not 300hp but its actually fun to punt around a twisty road.

My wife is definitely looking forward to it coming already, so I hope she can wait 3 months. In some of the longer term reviews ive read, they got 5.04 ltrs per 100kms on highway and 7.12ltrs around town. So it looks like it will be frugal on fuel as well as being fun.

I must say, even im looking forward to driving it again and the car isnt even for me.   :D :D
I cant find that many pictures of it yet..

I only had a few minutes to get home and take the car near the sea, to take 2 or 3 pictures before dark..

So here they are... This is the best small car of its class by a long long way... Its a fantastic drive.....

Sorry they are so big.. Havent had time to make them smaller in size properly.

Already there seems to be plenty of tuners in Europe for this car.

http://www.mountuneperformance.co.uk/ - do a decent upgrade with a 20hp hike and shave 2 seconds off the 0-100 time with factory warranty.

there is also already a supercharger kit with 170hp too

http://www.european-parts.net/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=124&products_id=1029

which would make it a little weapon... I can only hope these upgrades end up over in OZ...

Saadie here is a terrible interior picture from my phone.. You can make out the illuminated gear knob near the bottom..

Yeah Dani it took over 3 months!!!! Apparently the Germans dont like us Aussies  ;) ;) ;)

Here is a photo saadie. Still came out crap. Ill have to use my proper camera...

Looks awesome at night... Oh and you can talk too it too.

Like you can say Radio... Then FM... Then she asks what frequency do you want... and changes the radio station
Or you can say Phone... Then Dial... Then she asks what number you want to dial.... and dials for you
Or you can say a particular MP3 folder and then Track 1 or whatever...

If the radio station is digital you can also see what songs are playing and who sings them as well.

Very cool voice recognition too. It understands everytime....  :good: :good:

So a small update.... Done 6,000kms now. Everything has been perfect on this little blue rocket...

Voice control is fantastic..
Ipod and USB in the dash is awesome..
Dead locking is a cool feature...
Handles 200% better than you think in the twisties.. Genuinely surprised..
Last trip at 100-110kmh we averaged 5.2ltrs/100kms with air con on cruise control...
Interior is Awesome at night.. Dashboard is fantastic...
Pulls hard all the way to the readline... Only given it a quick high speed test and had to slow down at 190kmh.

Couple of annoying things the aussie models dont get:
European models get :

Keyless start
Leather Interior
Sunglass holder
Full Climate Control

This picture doesnt show the dash when the car is running as there is more dash lights

Spanky, can't you order the sunglasses holder at the dealer?
Otherwise, if you give me the partnumber I can always get one and send it to you...

What you mean by that deadlocking?

Drugs, dirty dancing and pounding techno music!

Thats the thing thamar, they arnt even on the options lists....

Can you get ford parts pretty easy or cheap?

Deadlocking is when you lock the car, the doors have an extra lock. So if someone breaks into the car, they still cant open the door to get out...Theyd have to smash the window if they hadnt already..
