Bloody fuck, I just went for the 11th vehicle in the collection today, and guys you will stop talking to me after this :D

You know, the white classics collection here, the white classics collection there... and today I had to buy something normal!!

You might remember my accident back in 2006 when I still had my 944 S2... in that accident I lost my best friend. The trial just took place some weeks ago, and same goes for the consequences (fine and driving license suspension). So, 2 and a half year after the accident, and after I covered some 100'000 km driving cars and bikes, they decided for a 6 months driving license suspension.. go figure.,.. if I was a dangerous driver they should have done that right away, or speed up the process at least... but well, such are such things. it's in fact 8 months, but I can attend a 3 days course (costing 600 swiss francs) to drop it to 6 months, so I obviously subscribed as 6 months seem long enough already.

Now, in Switzerland till 2008 we had this law allowing 16 years old and ppl with a driving licenses suspended, to drive normal cars as far as they were capped to a max speed of 45 kmh. A pain in the ass, but in town you don't notice any difference, and it's practical to have a car if you need it, even if your license got suspended.
Sadly now this law is no more, mostly because of a bad accided involving a drunk girl running over an old woman and killing her.
As my case happened under the old law, I am allowed to drive such cars (only cars, no bikes or scooters). Problem is, most of them were uncapped and sold, or still used as normal rental cars. No one rent them anymore and the law doesn't allow you anymore to buy and cap a new car as they are no more accepted.

Only solution was to find a car that was still capped and for sale. Afterall, I can uncap it in 6 months time and sell it.

I don't have much time, and luckily I found quite quickly. Apparently there was a single one for sale in the area

It's obviously a modern car... ewww... and it's red... ewwww!!!

Good news is that my mom offered me to buy it back in 2010 as she wants a small car, and my little bro will be 18 in 2011, so the car will stay with them. Deal!

I signed the contract today, paid the deposit and will pick it up next week. Weird: I'm excited :D

it's a Citroen C1 SX, 1.0 petrol, 5 grears, 5 doors, CD, aircon, 2006 model with just 17'000 km and a single owner who obviously didn't brutalize it as he drove it 18 months at 45 kmh...

I got a very good discount on the price they were asking, as they understood I was their only hope in fact!

Here is the new baby... I don't think you are interested in proper pics anyway :) but I don't have any so far.

I just can hardly imagine you driving to supercars meeting in that thing with 45kmh sticker on it :D

I guess its better than walking for 6 months, I am glad it turned out this way rather worse way ;)

Well, I'll have to find other ways to attend meetings and such, as this car's max range is 20-30 km honestly...

And on that bomb shell it's time to end this forum

Can't you appeal against the suspension? I'm sure the fact that you've driven a year without major events since can convince them to at least reduce the ban.

I've driven 2 and a half year without major events, and that's why I got the shortest suspension the law would consider. Could have been much worse in fact.

Weird... you're not the first trying this one ;)

L O L, funniest thing I've read all week.

Man, that really sucks, and what a bureaucracy that must be to take that long to have a trial and such.   It really does seem silly to hand out a such a lengthy suspension after you've spent so much time driving in the meantime. Well, at least you can drive that weird-ass looking thingie around instead of having no wheels.  :)

That is a tough and strange punishment after such long time from the accident. I feel sorry for you. I hope that 6 months passes quickly for you. :good:

ehm congrats i suppose  and especially for our American members I can imagine how weird that car must look :snap: but it's actually quite common here in Europe, together with its badge-engineered sister cars from Peugeot and Toyota...

about the sentence, you can't change the system I guess, thankfully the court took your driving record of the past years into consideration.

should I say congratulation to your new ride? I am not that sure :/ but hey at least you have a car that you can take for a ride.

Is that just a electronic limiter or quite pricy/complicated when you want to take the limiter away?

How about a white foil to put onto the car? :)

It's silly they give you a 6-months ban after so long... especially when you've been driving so much since the accident

I remember you already had your driving license suspended years ago, and that you were driving around in a Smart ForTwo. I would've picked one of those over the C1 anyday... but well, with the Citroën I guess you could "tune" it up as you did with your first 106 :P
