Saw it at the time of E3, and sincerely I'm not surprised at all. Forza is doing so much better, it might not have the same graphic quality but gameplay matters most IMO. Besides it has been delayed so much that probably Forza 4 will be out by the time GT5 is out.
Online racing? Sony already said they're no longer pursuing Xbox Live, they've gave up on that, the MGS franchise is no longer an exclusive, GT5 is no longer the only and best console simulator... my PS3 is more of a blu-ray player.

aaand NASCAR?? WTF???? I don't think simulator nerds are very much into NASCAR, bad move.

I'm with you. It's the game feel that matters the most. GT5 certainly looks amazing, but we shall see how it drives.

Top Gear's test track to be included in GT5.

It turned out they were there from the company that makes the incredible Gran Turismo computer racing game, and they were in England to map out and chart the Top Gear test track for inclusion in the next, even more realistic version. Of course, it was very important that I met the boss.

i think its a good thing that they are going to include nascar. nascar fans will buy it and then maybe be introduced to more interesting motorsport like le mans, jgtc, wrc. could lead to an increase in demand for international motorsports and maybe better motorsport coverage in the states. ?

I think that's a great point, just look what Gran Turismo did for the Nissan Skyline in America.

Gran-Turismo 5's tribute to 458 Italia

Awesome graphics but it's pretty clear that its NOT in game footage. They were saying the game was set to release in the holidays but now it's been confirmed at the TGS that the game is 65% finished... maybe they're waiting to release it at the time of Forza 5 so they both have the same numbers

I see "late 2009" far from real. Why would they release a game earlier than in japan if their main market is there?
What about car customization and tuning? They haven't said almost anything about that and those are very important assets in a simulator, I'd say more than visual damage... Yeah, the eye candy is exceptional, but gameplay and game fun are much more important. I still think Forza will be better, I bought my PS3 with the hope to acquire GT5 but it has been so long and the series have come downhill since GT3 that I am having my doubts of buying the game...

I was watching X-play on G4 the other night and they said release was now apprx march of 2010. Apparently each car takes about a month to develop. God knows how long the tracks take.

Given the processing and graphics power of the PS3, I would say GT5 is going to make up for a lot of GT4's shortfalls (especially the occasional shaky images).
