Of course the Apollo is not really a common car but it's more "roadable" than the Radical for me ...
Anyway, they came and go back by the road .

slicks? :bad: :bad:

The Autoblog article seems to be BS, because the original press release says this:

Quote
Dunlop have supplied us with brilliant, hard-wearing trackday tyres, indeed we've only used one set to both drive to the 'Ring, and set the record.

So no slicks, but roadlegal trackday rubber.

meh, this so called "street legal" cars just don't make it for me, put a roof on it and make it possible to carry a small suitcase for a 5 day trip and then it's more interesting

Agree about the suitcase thing! And possibly the requirement that a car should be able to ride over a bump in the road without breaking any eggs that you took home from shopping ;)

That is an impressive time, but calling that thing a 'roadcar' is really using the term loosely.

This Radical is a full race-spec racecar with license plates. That doesn't make it streetlegal... well, technically yes... but not on the real world. Impressive laptime nonetheless.

Well, I'd be one happy guy to drive this beast on the street as long as the weather is okay, as this chap demonstrates:

The induction sound on full throttle is amazing.

It's weird - the driver uses the left paddle to upshift... when in 95% of the cars is always the right paddle :?

Yeah that's very strange indeed, first time I've ever seen that. Maybe it's because the car is normally RHD and they mirrored everything including the gearchange to make it LHD..

I still would drive it to work every day despite the weather.

I remember my old shitty unreliable Alfa 147 Selespeed. Its sequential gearbox, when I wanted to use the stick instead of the paddles, worked exactly the opposite way of the Renault Clio, which is pull to upshift and push to downshift.

So well... the italians decided they had to be different so the Alfa (and I think it's not the only car) was the other way round, don't ask me why. The setup on the Clio makes much more sense and is more natural if you ask me...

pull to upshift and push to downshit is quiet right IMO ...
it goes with the flow .. when acclerating pulling the gear is easy thus shiftup and vice versa for downshift

I drove a triptronic accord cl9 a few months back .. it was the opposite i had to think twice before chaning gears haha

i hate how it is in mercs ... pull right for upshift and push left for downshift  :whip:

Yeah, I guess the main reason behind the racing car shift-setup is that you get pushed back into your seat when accelerating (thus shifting up) and thrown forward when braking (and shifting down). Why some smart-ass ever decided to switch that around is beyond me... :?

Edit: Sorry Saadie, I see I've somehow missed your reply.

Darn it, just wanted to post this ;)
He kinda messed up the first corner after start/finish, think it cost him a second or two..

Here's another cool onboard video of the SR8LM on Vallelunga. This things smokes everything on the track.

impressive car indeed, yep saw the first corner aswell (he wasn't concentrated enough since he pushed some buttons, probably clock)

but also for me it's not a roadcar. Will be an endless discussion which car belongs to teh group and which not
