1987 Trek 2500 Composite
« on: 28-Feb-2011, 07:17:04 »

Introduced in 1986, the 2500 Composite Series was a first for Trek, starting their development of carbon fiber technology for bicycles. The Matrix Graphite-Epoxy Double Butted Composite Tubes are bonded to Aluminum Alloy  Lugs;  a stepping stone generation preceding the future of ultra-light and rigid frames made completely of molded carbon fiber.

I bought this bike off of a good friend a little less than a year ago. He took great care of it and added a lot of after market performance / light weight gear. Feels new considering it's 24 years of age.. It's fun running down the serious guys in Spandex at Central Park.

Point it. Punch it.

If your mechanic doesn't have a story about crossing plug wires, he either hasn't been a mechanic for very long, or lies out his ass

Nice bike!

I saw a Centurion road bike at a garage sale for $35 a while back and bought it just to give myself another project  .  I stripped it, painted it and put a bunch of crap on it.  I'll post some pics of my bikes soon since everyone else is doing it :p

Haha.. I only posted it here thinking this was a "Rides" section and was following Stan's hefty bike thread.

bmuller, I think the frame is  21".. not sure exactly how to measure it correctly though. I'd recommend going to a bike shop to figure out what would be the best size for you, then look on craigslist or some other place with used bikes.

novass, Nice! I picked up really light Cannondale mountain bike that I started to sand down, but gave up. I should try and finish that up this summer.

It goes pretty quick once you get rolling.  Sanding is always the hard part.  It takes a while and is labor intensive.  Get some paint stripper, that will save quite a bit of time.

Mine came out okay, the color is...well, you'll see  .  I got just for a cruising around bike.  I bought a new bike about 7 months ago that I love.  I meant to take pics this morning but I had to come into work early  :bad:
