It, by now means, is a pretty car.  I think I love it because of everything it stood for when it came out.

I admit I was more of an F40 fan by the time... and I still am. Only difference is that back then I was against any rival of the F40. But now I can appreciate what is probably the best and most advanced Porsche ever I wouldn't mind having both in my garage.

you need also the Carerra GT in the garage  , seriously i like the 959, it's the first street legal supercar from zuffenhausen i think, but the price is too high imo.

OMG !!! Probably one of my favorite Porsche ever...moreover Red is my favorite color for the 959. In fact it's the same color as Walter Röhrl's 959. I think he's still own this old red 959 even today according to a Porsche magazine that I read couple months ago. He sold multiple Porsches from his personnal collection but he kept this amazing classic Supercar from the 80'.

when I first time saw it in Prague's street years and years ago when if you would be lucky you could see 1(one) sportscar (porsche, ferrari etc) in 2 weeks I thought what the hell that 993 did to the owner that he tuned it so badly

I have always disliked how this car looks (too heavy, especially in the rear!) but I do love the car itself!

 The F-40 is infinitely more desirable in almost every way to me though, despite my serious affliction of Porscheophillia!

 I remember I was working as a mechanic at a motorcycle dealership in Birmingham(Alabama) back when the 959 was out. We had a customer who was a car mechanic and specialized in high end Euro-cars, particularly Ferrari and Maserati. The place he worked at, the one exotic dealer in Birmingham at the time, had a 959 which they were trying to get US DOT legal for a customer. My friend got to ride with the owner one night on a highly illegal, pre-DOT modification, run around the interstates surrounding Birmingham. I remember him saying they hit over 160mph on one stretch which at the time was amazing speed! I got to see the car in person at that shop and I remember being dumbfounded by it! I was 100% a motorcycle guy at the time, but I was beginning to appreciate cars more ( I had just got a Scirocco!), and that thing which I had only seen in magazines was absolutely stunning! Some cars you really have to see in person to fully appreciate and I think this is one of them. I wish i could see one again.

BTW, If I remember correctly that 959 sat in that shop for over a year and eventually the owner took it home, unsuccessful in getting it US DOT legal! That would have sucked!

It's only fairly recently that DOT has allowed them in under a "show or display" exception:
