My pics of the Rally Monte-Carlo 2010
« on: 11-Feb-2010, 15:51:47 »
Last month I attended the rally Monte-Carlo. "Unfortunately" it wasn't part of the WRC season, like the previous year... which meant no Loeb, or Raikkonen, or Focus WRC... but on the other hand, we had a lot of S2000 cars, the world debut of the Fiesta S2000 with no other than Mikko Hirvonen at the wheel, and some very good driving - especial mention to Ogier, who went all out during the entire rally after losing almost 2 minutes the first day

We were lucky to find some snow in some of the stages... it was freezing most of the time, especiall at the top of the Col du Turini, where we spent like 8 hours at -4ºC, at night, on the snow... not cool for someone coming from sunny Barcelona

Here're some of the pics, you'll find the rest by clicking on them, or going to this Gallery...

The winner, Mikko Hirvonen. It was the first rally for the ord Fiesta S2000... and it couldn't get any better. I love the car, very agressive styling!

The Peugeots were pretty damn quick as well, especially Ogier as mentioned...

The Skoda S2000 was well-represented with Hanninen (second overall), Kopecky, Vouilloz...

Other cars...

Gardemeister, always super-agressive with the Grande Punto...

Crazy athmosphere at the Turini. Serioulsy. It's one of the coolest experiences I0ve ever lived in rallying. We arrived quite early (2 hours before the stage) and the marshalls were already blocking the access to the stage so you either stayed at the top of the Turini... or at the top of the Turini. That meant that there was a huge amount of people concentrated in one spot... which on the other hand made for a great athmosphere!

And some night shots...

Thank God I borrowed some winter tyres for the Meriva... they work surprisingly well I have to say (it was a first time for me) :)

(no, I didn't went off the road... it's the way we parked the car)
