Indoor shot of a Scuderia 16M, update with new pics
« on: 02-Mar-2010, 07:26:26 »
I didn't have much time to post lately but I did find some time to take some shots of the Scuderia 16M. I wanted to do a new setup with a lot of strobes and a large softbox. My goal was to get a studio style shot of the 16M. Red is very hard to shoot so it was a great exercise!

What do you guys think?

fantastic peter, looks like there is nothing behind the windshield, it's so dark, looks like the end of the world, amazing pic, it's difficult to explain it in english for me.
can you do me a big favour, i'm not a ferrari fan, but i love this pic, can you give us the high-res as wallpaper 1920x1200 ?

Not much to share Skaala, I used 3 off camera flashes, a large softbox 70 by 140 cm, a large black piece of cloth behind the car, a tripod and my cam. I made several shots/exposures and merged some of them together in Photoshop.

Thanks, I am glad you guys like it. I wanted to take a shot like this for a long time I am glad it worked out. Behind the car I hung up a large black cloth to get this effect.

Here is the highres (1600 x 1200):

awesome picture, I absolutely love it. I'm no pro photographer but the only thing I could criticize are the reflections by the headlights, but as I said, I'm no professional.

^ polarizer can help with that
but you'll have to take two pics .. one with polarization and one without and then merge the pics

reflections is what differentiates between rendering and reality  :)

I left these reflections on purpose, it helps to get some depth in the car. As I mentioned in my first post it had to be a studio style shot. A red car is very difficult with flashes, thats why I took of the CPF, if I had used it the car would look completely flat!

This was the first set up, I'll be back to the same location later to do some more shots :)

Some new shots and repost of the first post, somehow the quality of the first shot got crappy in Photobucket.

And the first one in highres again:
