Incredible story...I think that will inspire some of our E30 owners here.

Point it. Punch it.

Now my brother's 325i rally project is pretty much stuck - no money, no time, and the E30 M3 also in the garage... which is funnier and quicker - but he considered taking part in the WRC event in Catalonia, although he was sure he couldn't take part for some technical reason. May be now he changes his mind...

Saw this a few days ago (dno why I didn't post  :?) and I have to say that was an awesome read! Not to mention a few places which  were as suspenseful as a good thriller (for a rally fan at least), the whole underdog story was really inspiring.

I'd loooove to do that some day.

Thas said, the whole $500 angle is a bit wrong. He might have bought the car for that amount, but getting it ready for the rally was definitely a bit more. Not to mention the entrance fee, for an average Joe this might have still been a pretty decent amount to spend.

The Rally of Mexico not only had WRC participants, but also some drivers from other categories (P-WRC and WRC Cup), including the Rally America class, which is the class this guy entered.

 :)

He did finish 3rd in class because there were only 9 cars in total, and 4 of them were almost-standard 206 XS or Clio Sports... with only 3 other competitive cars: 3 Evos and a 206 WRC driven by Triviño.
