Anyone else going this year? Time for a second RR2010? Team Viking will be strong as usual.

Lot's of amazing cars and lots of time on the Nordschleife....how can it get better?

Just the other day we were planning a trip to the NS for the Avd Oldtimer Grand Prix

The trip is still in the works, not 100% sure yet... but it seems we'll make it this year. We started with the idea of the Eifel Rally... but August is better for everyone so I suggested the Oldtimer GP... and now I have to put down a route plan and the possible cost of the whole adventure... see if I can convince my buddies.

I'd love to get one of those photo-passes... how could I get one? And what kind of access does it give other than the usual paddock access?

The idea of a RR10.2 sounds cool...

Well, I think we'll be there this year. Me, my brother... and 3-4 friends who have never been to the Ring. Since I'm going with my GF (after the Ring, we'll go to France to spend some days) we'll probably leave on friday morning, and stay at Stuttgart to see the Porsche museum on saturday first thing in the morning (she's a Porsche fanatic!). So I guess we'll get to the Ring around lunchtime.

Since it's 38€ per day I've seen... on saturday I guess we'll hang around the area to spend the whole sunday in the Oldtimer GP. Any tip or recommendation Thomass? Does it take place in the modern F1 track? Do you know if the NS is opened for tourist farting on saturday and sunday?

Is it really crowded?

well dani, i'm on a waiting list at hotel nürburg, where thomas and lovejoy have their doubleroom. If we get a room, freddy and me will be there.

Waiting list?! That means we're waaay too late...

you can find the telephone number to the tourist information in eifel area. We have never stayed in nürburg during AvD before...it was always full. We have stayed in several of the small towns around, but never more than 20min driving to nürburg.

@Thomass :: Do you have the address of your hotel or the tourist office where you got your rooms from?

@Yeckmohr :: we're planning to stay in Stuttgart on friday, do a quick visit to the Porsche museum on saturday first thing in the morning, and leave to the NS as soon as we can. I thought about Glüeck hotel... I'll have a look.

Do you know if the Nordschleife is opened to the public on saturday and sunday? I don't know if the Oldtimer GP takes place in the old AND the new track or only at the new...

hi dani, sorry i missed it, yeap would be a choice no problem, but i planned to go to nordschleife on friday evening with freddy, if we get our hotel room, i'm on a waiting list Hotel zur Burg for a double room from friday to sunday.

No problem. I guess we'll go to Esslingen to eat something, visit the P museum at 9:00 on saturday... and arrive to the Ring around noon. I've rented a Scirocco with my brother, to scare the shit out of our girlfriends basically... and then on sunday, we'll focus on the AvD...

As for the hotel, have you tried looking somewhere else? We're staying near Daun... only problem is that I won't be drinking beer at dinner

They're super kind. I don't know the other companies... but just to give you an example: my brother couldn't do a lap in their rental BMW Compac due to clousure... and they gave him a full refund

I just got contacted by the editor in cheif in a Norwegian magazine called "Treffpunkt" (Meeting place, directly translateed) it is the official quarterly magazine for the Norwegian VW and Audi Club. They wanted me and David to write an article about AvD Oldtimer Grand Prix, focusing on getting to Nürburg, accomodation, VAG related cars and the event as a whole.

I have got a few of my pictures printed in this magazine before, but I have never written the story attached... should be interresting
