After some extra days on vacation, and far from the interwebs... here we go again :)

The trip to the AvD Oldtimer GP was epic, especially when it also involved the Porsche Muzeum un Stuttgart, and Reims and Le Mans in France (and that's only for the car-related stuff!)

First off, the P muzeum. Awesome experience once again (it was my second time there). Terrific selection of cars, pure racing history under one roof! This is what you can see in the underground parking lot if you get there at 9:00. We were in SHOCK!

Chris Harris' 997 GT3 RS, the car that finished 12th overall in the last 24 hours of Nürburgring - it's completely standard, except for the satefy equipment for racing. Other jewels there:

On the way to the Ring, I hit 193 km/h on the Meriva (with 158,000 km on the clock and only 100hp!!)...

The AvD meant lots of classic, unique cars driving around. We spend saturday on the old track having a blast in the Scirocco, and scaring the shit out of our GF   It was fun...

I did 2 laps on the Meriva, one with 5 people on board, the other under some serious rain on sunday. Now I can proudly put the sticker at the back :good:

At night, dinner at Pistenklause with Skaala, yeckmohr and phobo!

And on sunday, it was time for the GP track and the classics. Sadly, the weather was HORRIBLE. The whole freaking day raining the whole time  This is what we could see from the end of the main straight... fog, fog and more fog:

And with 13ºC in mid-August... the people at the grandstands looked more mid-november-ish...

The paddock was packed with unique cars. Seriously. Too bad it started to rain again and we got so wet we decied to go somewhere covered - the boulevard and the Ring'werk.

There was a nice black GTO inside the paddock

Indise the boulevard (just below the main grandstand in the new GP track) there a Nissan dealership with a nice scale model of the track...

Ring'werk was definitely a nice surprise. Lots of stuff to see and to "touch" there, very interactive experience. Definitely recommendable!

*the bus "virtual" ride was horrid*

Before leaving we spotted this nice Sport Classic. Don't know if it's the same 0/250 unit spotted by Christian :?

On the way to Normandy the following day, we did a quick stop at Reims. Epic scenery. Too bad it was raining (again) and I could take 2 or 3 proper shots.

Then we spotted this vintage Bentley which (I guess) was driving back to the UK after the AvD Oldtimer GP...

Days later, we stopped at Le Mans, when we moved from Normandy to the Loire region. Couldn't resist driving the track and visiting the museum :) Thank god I have a girl loaded with lots of patience...  (si llegeixes això, t'estimo molt!)

The museum, BTW, was well worth visiting. Lots of vintage cars (that I'm not that into them), lots of old-school racers (GT40, Ferrari 166MM, Porsche 904, Lotus XI), and lots of group C cars (Dauer 962, Mazda 787b...) :good:

Later I'll post some pics of Normandy, which was FANTASTIC. Lots of stuff to see there, we should have stayed an extra day! :nutz:

It was great fun meeting you guys (Christian, Freddy and Thomass) again, too bad we didn't met on sunday because of the weather. See you in the RR11 I guess :)

Met with the super nice people at rent-a-racecar today, and had an absolute blast in the Scirocco. It was a lot faster than I thought, and was at one point in the damp able to overtake a norwegian 996 GT2  (he was really struggeling for grip!) Had six laps in a row, and for the last three laps, the track was dry :good: Will defenetly rent a car at this place again....maybe something faster next time? Had a nice chat with the people after I returned the car. They are going to tune some of the Sciroccos to 280bhp and install even bigger brakes with some €1.000,- brakepads. 280bhp to much for this FWD chassis?

The Scirocco is a fucking blast to drive... but afterall, it's not that different from the Golf. Only thing that I didn't like were the brakes, with the ABS jumping way to early IMO. Now, that 280hp "upgraded" version sounds interesting! May be I give it a go next June :good:

And people at Rent-Racecar is fantastic. In June my bro couldn't do a single lap with a rental due to a track closure, and he got a full refund. Very cool people, it's the fourth time I've rented a car with them and I know I'll repeat next year.

Mighty Meriveron going close to 200km/h   :good:   - almost same as Ibizenzo last year 190km/h (same 100hp but less air-resistance = better cw value I guess  )

Thanks for the nice report

^^^^Porsche 962.

Very nice trip coverage Dani, I'm very impressed by the surprise cars that you saw in Porsche museum. We parked outside of the museum last year that's why we saw only regular Porsches...perhaps only Thomas' RS2/Porsche was special.

I really wanted to be there with you guys, it's not very easy to deal with my client's aviation insurance renewals, some of them require a lot of job to finalize. So that's why I can't take days off the moment that I want. Anyway I cross my fingers to go at the annual RR2011.  ;)

Cheers !

That's a small price to pay considering you've been to the Porsche museum, to the Ring, to the Le Mans museum, and that you're gonna spend a whole weekend at the races next week when I race the Clio at Alcañiz

I saw them leaving on sunday when I was next to the Ring'werk. I was too far away and it was raining, but I spotted the yellow Murcie SV and the black Diablo GTR :)
