Pff. A bit anal if you ask me. I like a nice clean shining car as much as the next guy, but if I had an R8, I'd wait for the most snowiest, iciest, slippies day, but winter tires on it and go take advantage of that Quattro system!!!

damn, that guy is insane!!!

nah, car has to be dirty to show that you DRIVE it, not hiding it in the garage (well, sometimes it deserves some polish, but not that much  )

wish I had the time. I'll be waiting until the spring before having my car professionally detailed.

Thamar will love this topic :p

But IMO this is just too much. Spending so much money and time cleaning a car is worthless IMO, since it's gonna be dirty in a couple of hours :?

Is this detailing the latest trend or is is just making a web page about it. R8 looks amazing after all the work, but I don't think it was so bad in the beginning. :)
My car could use 30% of the effort put in that R8, especially now when the shit weathers have been going on for a month. I just don't have time nor the place.

I totally agree, I think with the right amout of dirt it looks better almost, but the inside has to be spotless!!

I hate a dirty interior!!

though I must say that when I did my summer washing of my GTi, it took me 2 days and 8 hours each day. first day was the exterior and second day was the interior. And I did it properly and actually took off each rim to wash it with a fine tooth brush and terry cloth towel. Took out the back seats for vacuming, front seats are too much a pain in the ass.

I hate dirty cars myself. Now the weather in here has been 0°C ±4 for a month or so and the cars get so dirty that you get stained yourself when you look at them. I drove through a washing line on Friday and already now my car is as diry as on Thursday. It's just so annoying when you have to be carefull all the time to not touch the car at all because your clothes will get dirty immediately. OKay, that's enough whining about our weather nowadays, I'll try to let Al Gore do the rest

That's some good work. I also see more point in detailing a used car you've bought, not some much with an almost new R8.

Pretty excessive, no doubt. I do clean my sti quite a bit..my wife and kids tease me about it often. My wifes car, however, is filthy; it is so much more enjoyable to spend time cleaning a car you like. When I wash mine it is a stress relief. almost zen experience; when I wash hers it is a chore.

I'd buy him a Big Mac if he'd come over and detail my cars.   ;)
