Switch to yellow lights for the fogs. That's a big difference when it's terrible weather...

I tried yellow/orange type light bulbs (standard H1) on the RS2's foglights and I am not sure what is best.. From what I can read on the spec of the bulbs, the Lumen (amount of light) amount is almost triple compared to the standard Osram ones.

I also like that now all the lights have the same colour. (4300 kelvin as stock xenon)

Only a mobile pic, but you get the idea :) BBS sent the wrong spacers (12mm) instead of 15mm, so you can see the tires are a bit to far back in relation to the wheelarch. No clearance problems, so it is fine to use until BBS sends the correct ones.

Defenetly! This is how I want it to look. Now I have all winter to decide for Black BBS CH 10x19 or Anthrasit MTM Bimoto 9,5x19 for summer wheels. :hit:

How different is the tread on snow tyres compared to your normal summer tyres?

thanks,

If you have never used snowtires, It can be abit diffucult to explain, but basically they are very soft, have lots of micro treads, more narrow than summertires. (to avoid planing on top of the snow or slush) Have you ever seen a wide non-asphalt WRC tire? I run 235 width on winter and 265 on summer. A normal family hatchback may run 175 width on winter  The Nokian Hakkapeliita tires I use are specially designed for scandinavian winter temperature and conditions. Very very cold temperatures. Snowtires sold in rest of europe are pretty much useless here in -25C. Scandinavian snowtires are usually max 160km/h while european ones are made of a harder compound rubber and often allow for vmax 200-240+km/h

from the interweb:
Quote
Snow tires have tread patterns specifically designed to dig down and bite into snow and ice, plus they are made from much softer rubber compounds that retain their flexibility in cold weather, allowing the tire to better conform to the surface of the road. (Regular tires tend to get hard and brittle in cold temperatures.) As a result, winter tires keep a better grip on snowy and icy surfaces than regular all-season or summer tires. Grip is critical -- not just to avoid getting stuck, but to ensure that the car can stop and steer. Life-saving safety technologies such as antilock brakes, electronic stability control and all-wheel-drive cannot do their jobs if the tires can't maintain their grip on the road surface.

^^^^I just put my new Nokian Hakkapeliita R last weekend, so now I'm ready for the Nordic winter !!!  :good:

All my friends have Nokians tire on their WRX, A4, etc...my previous Pilot Arctic Alpin were too slippery, that's why I changed. I heard the only problem with Nokians is they don't last many winter seasons. It's a chance I'm not doing a lot of KM during the winter because they are very...I mean very soft. It's sad that I can't put studs on my winter tires, because it's forbidden inside the underground parking building at the job. It's white epoxy finished so no studs there.  ;)

You can't realise how I'm jealous of your car buddy, keep up the good work to mod it...we all know that you have good taste for this purpose.  :good:

Good choice those BBS CH, I had the same on my 2000 Audi A4 1.8T (19x8.5) I was using 235/35/ZR19 tires on that. Like Dani said they are one of the best wheel ever !   ;)

Can't wait to see next !

Cheers

Yes, the only downside is that the "Nordic tires" dont last as long, but that is due to the very soft rubber...like soft slicks on racecars dont last that long either. But this soft rubber compound is absolutely critical to get good grip in proper zub zero temperatures. The studded tires are not needed unless you drive alot on wet icy roads, and after one season of use, all tests show that studless tires perfom twice as good as studded tires. Studded tires are very good when new, but rubbish when worn. The set of Hakkapeliita R (235/40/18) cost me €1.100,- but I consider it as a cheap insurrance in wintertime.

I cannot understand people who only goes for the cheapes tire available (lots of them here :bad:) trying to save a few bucks on a 70k car.

I overheard this at a local tireshop from another customer: "The tires I just got are from a new japanese manufacturer, they buy 4 year old Goodyear designs, and they are €100 cheaper pr tire!" :idiot: Expect to see him in a ditch soon.

And these I have under the Volvo, Bridgestone Blizzak LM32

Those tires are perfect here, not that cold and higher speeds. Mine are rated till 190. Costed me €85 a tire.

When you compare the Nordic tires to ours, you can spot the differences when you look at the details...

I have also Nokian Hakkapeliitta studles version under my car. This is the third winter with those tyres and I would badly need new set. I'm so used to driving studless tyres that I never want to go back to the studded. Grip on ice is not as good as with studded tyres but as long as you know that there's no problems at all.

Nokian Hakkapeliitta R succeeded in a big winter tyre test that Finnish car magazines performs every year.

Gorgeous wheels you have chosen. Would have been my choise too.

Delivered the car to the shop this morning. They will fit:
*Bilstein PSS9 B16
*Hotchkis Anti roll bar front/rear kit
*JH Motorsport Drivetrain Stabilizer
*4-wheel alignment

Hopefullt it will only take two days. Cant wait to test the car in the snow with the new ARB from Hotchkis. They it maks the car quite tailhappy and more or less eliminates understeer. :viking:

I hope to feel it someday, if they are too strong or not, i could change it in my c-class also to Bilstein.

looking forward to try. This "gewindefahrwerk" has a lot of settings possibilities in both height and stiffness. I will have to try out some different settings to find one that will work on the road for daily driving, and on the track.

doesnt the pss9 has some kind of "quick adjusting screw"?

Too bad bilstein makes only stuff for modern cars and no old beemers otherwise it would be very high on my xmas shopping list.
