If my friend BJ joins us, I'm afraid it won't fit in the Z4. The Z4's boot, however, is not as small as you'd think... ;)

I'm sure some arrangement can be made. Perhaps you can borrow an AMG of some sort for the weekend.

Ill manage something. But as for borrowing a car thats a big nono. All the cars have track and trace at the company and if I drive it to the Nordschleife I don't think they would be happy about that, especially something like an AMG.

Perhaps I could borrow an electric smart, but then again Im not sure of the electric cable is long enough

RR11 will be more expensive...

prices for tourist driving rised up to 29%. But now they are also planning to raise the prices for the companies that are in the "industrial pool" companies like bmw, merc, bilstein ... that are using the ring for testing. Rental for them goes up 900%!!!

After realising what a big mess all this eiffel village or the boulevard of concrete is they are now trying to make more money with the ring itself :( since all the other stuff makes no profit.

That is in a way of course understandable that they want to make money they've lost, but I still think it is the wrong way around. If it gets too expensive then people will not come anymore and then it is all to hell. :bad:

please come with suggestions to dates, even if we do not yet know the opening times for the nordschleife after 31.03.2011

As said above if I do want to attend this year I will have to do some thorough planning very soon and far ahead because of my internship, and sorting out a ride

Seems like we have to wait till sometime this month when the NS Touristenfahrten dates will be announced for the rest of the year. The events schedule (http://www.nuerburgring.de/events/motorsport-events/alle-events.html) doesn't look like it its finalized either. (If so, then things are even worse at the Nürburgring than I thought...)

All things considered, it's still a bit difficult to decide upon a date. At least we can rule out the Easter weekend, cause no matter what, it's always way too crowded. Midsummer apparently is problematic for some of the Scandinavian teams.

Preliminary list of dates without knowing whether the NS is open:
April
2/3
9/10
16/17
23/24 Easter
30/01

May
7/8
14/15
21/22
28/29

June
4/5 Rock am Ring
11/12
18/19
25/26 ADAC 24hr Race + Midsummer

June 18/19 would be my preferred date - or one week earlier

I was thinking to start the RR weekend on Thursday with some driving in the Alps (Austrian part, Grossglockner )  maybe drive to Stelvio
then going towards Munich maybe or other museums (Audi) like it was mentioned before
then Friday evening traditionally in Ebersbach, Saturday towards RIng,  Monday back from Nürburg to CH

July
23/24 Formel 1

Also some other thursday holidays are in june which means that the ring & the autobahn will be very crowded.
I hope I can also take some days off to start on thursday and drive home on tuesday.

Oh wait... the 24 hors race is in midsummer?!?! That's the weekend I was going to suggest, since the 24th is public holiday here! Because... what if we "change" the way we celebrate the RR, and for once we attend an epic race like the 24 hours race?! I think it could be pretty damn hilarious - the REBEL CAMP!

Then it's a bit of a problem, especially for my brother who cannot take days off work as easily as me. Guess we'll have to do as we did in 2007-08: picking him up at some nearby airport on saturday morning.

it's for sure cool to see the 24h race ... but I assume most of us want to drive themselves on the ring ... maybe we find a weekend with a race (VLN) on Saturday mid day ...

dani, you cannot attend the 24hours race, there are 200.000 fans around the track in the woods, what can we do there ??? shooting pics from drunken people.
should be somewhere in june and we have to ask schwalbe, he will join us again.

What about the Eifel Rally weekend? I don't know when does it take place... but could be a nice option to do something different for a change. It's only on saturday I think...

@Dani, Im in for it, but I think most of the guys prefer a warm bed over a tent and a sleeping bag, for me its ok I just drink and don't sleep at all
