I'm back
« on: 25-Jul-2011, 15:51:52 »
Yo guys, what's up!!!???

It has been quite a while since I last spent some time around TAU. And guess what? It's time to be back for good. Common, it's true that my spare time is drastically limited thanks to work, wife, pictures and such, but I'm sure with some minor efforts I'll be able to hand around on a daily basis or almost!

I won't update you all with everything going on in my life (many of you knows thanks to Facebook anyway ;-)), but all in all, everything is great, although VERY busy at work as of late.

The garage is still as you might remember it: an RS4, a Ducati and some white oldies, but because of the lack of time, I'm considering parting from some of them (mainly Esprit and 912). The Fulvia will definitely stay and I'm in the process of having it's engine rebuilt. It will be expensive, but well worth the effort as that car always gave me big smiles!

I just came back from a two weeks long road trip in the western USA (Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Arizona, Nevada, California) and it was great fun!!

Oh yes, my coming back has something to do with a last minute trip planned yesterday to the Ring, and to the discover that dani, Darkel and others will be there aswell, LOL!

Good to see you posting on TAU again! It's been a long time indeed!  :good:

What a surprise this morning when you posted you were coming to the Ring. Talking about coincidence! :)

Busy days here, as well. Work, almost-married life, friends... and especially car blogging have reduced my online time to a minimum. But I still check TAU 2-3 times a week! It's definitely not as busy as JW back in the day, but the good thing is that we're pretty much the same people that started this little forum... so it's more or less like going to your local pub to have a beer and hang with your buddies.

My life is similar to all of yours - my work is killing me. Sadly forums and picture taking are the first items to be sacrificed. I check in once or twice a week but do not post as often as before. Hopefully things will change for the better in October.

Good to have you back  :good:

I'm starting to understand how life can be hectic at times, apart from FB, TAU is the only place where I'm active anymore

Following you and Dani's example I guess it's only a matter of 2 or 3 years before I'm engaged

Hey TT!  I'm in the same boat as you, sameer and dani.  Too much work, chores, etc.  I hate getting old and having responsibilities  :bad:

What part of California did you visit?

LOL, thanks everynody!

Indeed, we're just growing up.

As for Cali, we arrived from Las Vegas through San Bernardino County to L.A. (Petersen Museum of course), slept in Santa Monica (trained at Arnold's Gold's Gym in Venice), then drove to the Sequoia National Park from the south, left toward Fresno (spent the night in the area), to Santa Cruz for a third night and up to San Francisco for a couple more nights (Blackhawk collection) before flying to Switzerland.

Long time no see! Great to have you back.

BTW what happened in the US that you were having delay after delay @ the airport?

Long story short:
. we woke up at 4 am (local time) to catch a shuttle to the airport at 4:40 am, to be there at 5 am since our flight was due to take off at 7 am (SF - NY, NY - Milan). Shuttle didn't came.
. the hotel arranged a taxi. We arrived at the airport at 5:20 am.
. our flight was cancelled -> long waiting line at the American Airlines desk to be rescheduled. After a couple of hours, around 7:15 am, we god a temp booking on a Lufthansa flight to Frankfurt (then Frankfurt - Milan).
. 4 hours later, at the Lufthansa check in, they informed us no seat was reserved for us.
. after some discussions, we had to walk all the way back to the AA check-in area to complain and find another solution.
. after some more time, it was now between 12 and 1 pm, we got another reschedule, this time on the direct Swiss plane (SF - Zurich, Zurich - Lugano), which was due to take off at 7 pm.
. luckily at the check-in at 4 pm they had our names and we got on the plane, 14 hours after having step inside the SF airport...
. 11 hours later we arrived at Zurich to discover the connection flight to Lugano was cancelled because of bad weather forecast and we had to catch a train home.

All in all, 31.5 hours door to door, what I call a nightmare!

daaamn, too bad you couldn't get into the A380. I mean 31.5 hours but being in the Airbus would have balanced.

Definitely, but still, the Swiss flight was, first of all direct to Europe, with no connection in the US, and their A340 was pretty well equipped even in economy class!
