The 911 is getting boring...

Drugs, dirty dancing and pounding techno music!

hmmm, I'm not quite convinced yet...
-the way the daylight driving lights extend outwards beyond the grille looks kinda lambo-ish, too agressive for a 911 imo.
-the black undersides to the door mirrors just look crappy
-the rear lights / spoiler look great in isolation, but I'm not sure if they work when they're stuck to the back of a 911. I can see myself getting used to it though. For the record, this part of the car would look absolutely amazing on a new 928!
-the lower silhouette, as seen from the side, reminds me a bit more of the cayman, or any random mid-engined sports car, than I'd like. I always liked the 911's concept of upright compact dimensions with great outward vision and backroad-ability.
-interior is nice, a bit more generic than the 997 but still clearly a 911 with its central rev counter and overlapping dashboard dials
oh, and those wheels are bloody amazing!

I need time to accept a new 911 design. I'm not convinced with the front & rear at the moment but that will change for sure.

At least I like it from this view.  :good:

haha looks like the old one's, it wider and bigger then the old one and has a lot of the panamera like the interieur, but they said in german "Autobild", it's driving better then the old one, saves more fuel and is more powerful. why not ? nobody liked the 996, because of their headlamps, now we it looks like a 911, that is what we wanted !!!

ok ok, now we're able the see the first real pics.

overall
i like it. it has the origin 911 lines which it definitely needs to have. sadly the cars in general are getting bigger and bigger. for example: compare a golf 2 with the actual one. it's a fact your're facing with all modern cars from most manufacturers.. the rims are very nice and fit perfect to the car and give it a sporty look.

the front
well, i like it. it's more agressive compared to the previous models, looks very sporty. looking forward to see what they'll do with it for the Turbo and GT models.

the back
... hmm i guess i'll need some time to get used to it. but it's not ugly in my opinion. but i don't like the font. somehow it doesn't fit there... i wonder how they'll design the back lights for the C4S. traditionally the lights are "conntected" with this red band. i cannot image how it will look with the new design... and i know the C4S customers will insist on that one...

interior
what i don't like is the interior, especially the section around the gearshift. that doesn't look like a sport cars interior at all. and i assume it will definitely not be much better with the manual shift...

looking forward to see the real one to get a proper impression of it.

It looks more like a face lift than a new design, not that I was expecting massive changes, but if this design had been introduced as  997.2 (as in, the current 997.2 would have never existed and this was introduced instead) I wouldn't have been surprised at all.

the roofline is different, and the pontoons behind the headlights seem very, very shallow, hardly raised above the bonnet anymore!

Well obviously... I mean, we are referring to a porsche 911 after all   Either way, I'm not too fond of the new design but I could easily see it growing on me after a while, just like the 458. I'll admit that I'm not even close to being a porsche fanboy, but they definitely have a method behind the madness

The front, it looks like they tried to imitate but ruined the front of the 997. The daytime LED lights look out of place right next to the airvents. The 997 design looked cleaner IMO. As for the back, I kind of like it, although it really looks different to anything we've seen before on the 911. Reminds me of the 918 Spyder. A lot, in fact. The roofline looks different, too. Like chopped, more sleek and aerodynamic. Anyway, one of the things I don't like are the wheels, too big IMO. The best thing of the new 991 is that the 997 will get cheaper and cheaper from now on.

BTW, does anyone know why they using the 991 internal code, instead of going for 998 or a different numeration (like BMW has started with the F-Series)?  :?

meh... I really do think it looks just slightly too stretched-out and Panamera-like... and the door-mounted mirrors aren't really helping in that regard either.
